Your series Gram Chikitsalaya raised the very relevant issue of rural healthcare. How involved were you in the theme?

From what I know, Deepak Mishra and Arunabh Kumar had been working on this idea for the last few years. Under their guidance, Vaibhav Suman and Shreya Srivastava had developed a screenplay and characters, bringing the world of Bhatkandi to life. Rahul Pandey, who is a writer too, came in with his own suggestions after he joined the project as a director. So the theme and overarching material was already in place when I joined as an actor. Of course, the quality of the material and the appeal of the theme makes you more attracted towards the project. But I won’t say I have any contribution in the ideation process,...

Backed by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Films, “Kull: The Legacy of the Raisingghs” has its Rajasthan royals bickering and scheming their way out of a stretched eight-episode series in the fictional city of Bilkaner. Set largely in and around the gorgeously intricate testament of Rajput architecture, the JioHotstar series attempts to be too many things and make too little of a mark. The series’s imaginative idea for the name of a fictional Rajasthani city is to add an ‘L’ to ‘Bikaner.’ Sadly, with its part Agatha Christie and part “Game of Thrones” inspired plot, “Kull” has to take that same ‘L’ when it comes to producing a coherently consistent story. The series shines only in patches, with the lead actors doing the bulk of the praiseworthy work.

Mumbai, Aug 25 (Ians) Actor Amol Parashar plays Bhagat Singh in Vicky Kaushal-starrer ‘Sardar Udham’, which bagged the Best Hindi Film honour at the 69th National Film Awards, said that although he has a small part of this stupendous film, he got to witness the passion, craft and honesty of the team at work.

Amol told Ians: “It is heartening to see Sardar Udham winning deservedly at the National Awards 2023. Although I am a small part of this stupendous film, I got to witness the passion, craft and honesty of the team at work. New Delhi, Aug 24 (Ians) Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s film ‘Sardar Udham’ starring Vicky Kaushal has been honoured with Best Hindi Film at the 69th National Film Awards.

The award event is being held in the National capital on Wednesday.

The film also was named in the Best Production design, Best Cinematography, the Best Costume Design and Best Audiography category.

‘Sardar Udham’ is a biographical historical drama film directed by Shoojit Sircar, and produced by Rising Sun Films in collaboration with Kino Works.

Based on the life of Udham Singh, a freedom fighter from Punjab who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in London to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar.

The film also stars Shaun Scott, Stephen Hogan, Amol Parashar, Banita Sandhu.

The film was also noted for its realistic portrayal of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, being depicted in an extended and graphic sequence.

He said: “It was a great experience to shoot the song in ‘Nausikihiye’, since we play wedding crashers in the movie and it’s our introduction song in the film.”

“We were given the brief to perform freestyle dance at places in the song, like how you dance at a wedding or during street procession. That way it was fun to create our own dance steps for the song, ensuring that it looks relatable, funny and entertaining. I had a whale of a time rehearsing and shooting the song,” Amol added.

Alongside Amol, ‘Nausikhiye’ features Abhimanyu Dassani and Shreya Dhanwanthary. The film is a rib-tickling comedy and is directed by Santosh Singh.
