Trevor Noah in The Daily Show (1996)

Trivia

Trevor Noah

Edit
  • He is a polyglot; he speaks English, Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho, Tswana, Tsonga, Afrikaans and some German.
  • His father is white (of Swiss origin). His mother is black (of the Xhosa people).
  • He began his career in comedy when he was out at a bar in South Africa with his cousin and a friend. They were both drunk and began heckling a comedian. When the comedian challenged them to come on stage...they sent Trevor to perform. He went on stage to avoid looking like a "scaredy cat" and discovered that when he spoke, people laughed.
  • He wrote two versions of his autobiography "Born a Crime". The original version contained some profanity, so he wrote an adapted version without the profanity so that children could read it.
  • During his childhood he did not know the famous "Happy Birthday to You" song as being the official birthday song because his mother would sing to him a birthday tune from Donald Duck's 50th Birthday (1984).
  • When he was young, Trevor was thrown out of a minibus by his mother, because she thought the driver, from another tribe, was trying to kill them.
  • He has referred to Jon Stewart as a major influence following his announcement of taking over The Daily Show (1996). He has even likened him to a "Jewish Yoda".
  • A new George Mason University study found that he had made 315 jokes about President Trump's first 100 days in office.[May 2017].
  • He first began his career as a radio host. His show titled "Noah's Ark" aired on Gauteng's youth radio station.
  • Merited a place in TIME magazine's "The 100 Most Influential People" (Pioneers) with an homage penned by Lupita Nyong'o [April 2018].
  • He thinks Donald Trump is weird looking and has incestuous feelings for Ivanka Trump.
  • Is a huge fan of roller coasters.
  • He is good friends with John Oliver.
  • He is good friends with John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen.
  • Considers himself a political progressive.
  • He is good friends with Seth Meyers.
  • When Noah was 10 or 11, his mom decided to convert to Judaism.
  • During his childhood, he attended Roman Catholic Church every Sunday.
