Giulia Grandinetti was born in 1989 in a small village in the Marche region of Italy. She lived every summer of her life in her family home in Greece, in Kefalonia, with her large family. She is a multifaceted artist, driven on her artistic journey by research and experimentation. At the age of three she began studying dance, but when she started playing with his father's handycam at the age of thirteen, she understood that her desire was to become a director.
In 2008 she moved to Rome and began studying acting in a Cinecittà academy. She chose acting in an effort to mediate between her background in dance and her desire of becoming a film director. In her training course, she studied with M. Margotta, A. Piccardi, M. Abraham, F. Pardeillhan, D. Antonelli, P. Buglioni, C.Taviani. In 2010 she made her debut as a leading actress in "Love's Labour's Lost" directed by Alvaro Piccardi at the Globe theater in Rome. In 2012 she also opened up to international courses: she studied at the Odin Teatret in Holstebro and carried out research in the dance world of Pina Bausch and the physical theater. She graduated in Literature and Philosophy at the University of Roma Tre, with a Master's Degree in Cinema following a Bachelor's in Theater.
In 2013 she approaches film directing.
From 2014 to 2020 she worked on her debut feature, "Alice and the Land that Wonders", a completely independent project (the film is available on Amazon Prime Video ITA, UK, and US).
In 2019 she began working on a trilogy of dystopian short films.
The first is ''Guinea Pig'', premiered in 2020 at 20th Trieste Science+Fiction Festival. It's co-directed with Andrea Benjamin Manenti and produced by Matteo Vecchione and Francesco Conticello.
The second is ''Tria - del sentimento del tradire'' is shot in 35mm in Italian-Greek language, produced by Lupin Film and had the World Premiere in 2022 at the 79th Venice Film Festival/ La Biennale di Venezia Orizzonti Short Films Competition.
The third short film ''Majonezë'' is under development and will be shot in Albania in 2023.
She is also developing her new feature film: ''Jaune et Bleu'', set in France and produced by Lupin Film.
From the 2020, she has decide to be a digital nomad: she travel constantly over the world and works online giving lessons of italian diction and vocal identity research.
In 2029 will be ready the photographic exhibition of the long-term project on the study of change entitled ''PhramesOfHer''.
She is creatively obsessed with understanding the human being and fascinated by the formula of the dystopia. She loves to explore the world of dreams, the human unconscious and the confines of taboo. The starting point for each of her creations is the body.
