Claudia Forestieri is the Creator and Executive Producer of GORDITA CHRONICLES, a critically acclaimed family comedy which premiered on HBOMax in 2022.
Claudia comes from a long line of people who love to pick up and move - AKA immigrants. Her grandfather immigrated from Italy to the Dominican Republic in the 1920s, hence her last name which, conveniently enough, means foreigner. Her parents immigrated from Santo Domingo to Puerto Rico in the 70s, and in the 80s, seven-year-old Claudita became an immigrant herself when her family moved to Miami, Florida.
She caught the writing bug in fourth grade when her teacher read an essay she wrote - "I Wish I Was Skinny" - over the school's PA system. Despite the temporary mortification, the sound of her own words being broadcast to every kid at Springview Elementary was intoxicating, and thusly, a writer was born.
This newfound love of writing morphed into a career as a journalist for Telemundo, where as a news reporter, she also indulged in her love of seeing her freckled face on TV. After she got tired of dieting for the cameras and blow drying her curls, she switched to working behind the scenes. As a news producer for Telemundo's L.A. station, she won a GLAAD Media Award and five Emmys for her work covering the Spanish-speaking community (sure, they were the local variety, but Claudia insists they're just as shiny as the ones they gave to Julia Louis Dreyfuss.)
In 2018, Claudia landed her first staff writing gig on Freeform's GOOD TROUBLE in 2018, then went on to work as an Executive Story Editor and Co-Producer on two seasons of Netflix's SELENA THE SERIES.
After years of telling stories about real and fictional Latine characters, Claudia got the chance to share her own story with GORDITA CHRONICLES, a series inspired by her colorful Miami childhood. These days, she keeps herself busy transforming other embarrassing parts of her life into new scripts.
She lives in sunny Los Angeles with her cinematography professor husband Bryant Lemelle next to the coyotes and skunks of Griffith Park.
