Biography

Holds a Bachelor degree in Literary Studies. Initially became involved in publishing as a researcher. Later she worked as an assistant for the publishing house Alfaguara, Taurus and Aguilar labels in Colombia.

Her work as a screenwriter began in 2002 writing youth miniseries and later with soap operas and series. For several years she was linked to the NGO Sesame Workshop, with whom she participated in different educational projects for Sesame Street in Latin America. Between 2009 and 2016 she worked for RCN National TV channel as a project analyst. Between 2017 and 2019 she has been part of the fiction series scriptwriting team for RCN, Caracol, Fox Telecolombia, CMO, Dynamo, Netflix and Movistar.

In 2008, she wrote "Trece", her first fiction feature film, with which he won the script development award from the FDC. Encouragement that she received again in 2011 with the script "The Defense of the Dragon" and in 2016 with "Malta".

In 2014 she won the FDC Fiction Feature Film Production award as director of the film "Defense of the Dragon". This, her first film, premiered at Cannes in 2017 as part of the Directors' Fortnight selection, being the first Colombian director to showcase a film at this festival. Since then it has appeared in more than forty shows and festivals in America, Europe and Asia. At the Lima Film Festival, the film received the awards for best actor and best director. In 2018 "The Defense of the Dragon" was nominated for Best Ibero-American First Film at the Platino Awards, and at the Macondo Awards for Colombian Cinema it was nominated in 11 categories. She is currently developing "Malta", her second fiction feature film, and works as content director for Colombia and Mexico at The Immigrant production company.
