It: Welcome To Derry Trailer Teases Fresh Reign Of Pennywise Terror In Period Prequel Series
Image
Considering the fact that It — or Pennywise the Dancing Clown, as they prefer — is an ancient extraterrestrial entity who made first contact with Earth in approximately 1 Million Bce, it's somewhat surprising that it's taken 39 years for Stephen King's horror opus and its titular terrifier to get a spin-off. But now, with HBO Max's upcoming It: Welcome To Derry, we are about to get exactly that: a prequel series to Andy Muschietti's It duology set in 1962, 27 years before Pennywise and The Loser Club first made each other's acquaintance. And if the new trailer for the show is anything to go by, it looks like sleep's back off the menu — check it out below;

Globophobes, coulrophobes, and general fraidy-cats (us included) beware — showrunners Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane aren't clowning around as they pick up the baton from series co-developer Muschietti with Welcome To Derry. Despite this latest...

It: Welcome to Derry Cast: Is the Original Cast Including Bill Skarsgård Returning?
Image
While new faces fill the trailer of Welcome to Derry with a sense of sewer-grate dread and cosmic wrongness, the HBO series teases the return of Bill Skarsgård‘s Pennywise the Dancing Clown in all his eerie smiling glory.

Despite being helmed by a new cast against a backdrop of events set squarely in 1962, the series trailer promises nothing less than the blood, gore, and terror that made the first two movies a billion-dollar, fan-favorite, global success.

Set to premiere in Fall 2025, It: Welcome to Derry is a prequel set within the familiar world of director Andy Muschietti‘s It and the town of Derry, Maine. The lore of the series will be deeply rooted in Stephen King‘s original novels, and take the audience on a journey to where, when, and how it all began.

‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Connects Stephen King’s Worlds in Chilling Teaser
Image
HBO has released the second official trailer for It: Welcome to Derry, offering a chilling preview of the upcoming nine-episode series based on Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel. Arriving on HBO Max this October, the prequel pulls audiences back into the cursed town of Derry, Maine, to explore the evil that lurked there long before the Losers’ Club faced off against Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

The teaser begins in 1962, as a new family settles into town, unaware of the dark force that quietly festers beneath the surface. Early glimpses hint at a population infected by paranoia and cruelty, as an unexplained evil appears to feed on Derry’s collective fears. While Bill Skarsgård’s return as Pennywise is only teased, his looming presence is unmistakable, with references to mysterious disappearances and unspoken horrors suggesting the beginning of a fresh cycle of terror.

‘The Shining’ and ‘It’ Collide in New Stephen King Crossover Series from HBO
Image
HBO is getting ready to dive deeper into the world of Stephen King with its upcoming horror series It: Welcome to Derry. This show will serve as a prequel to the hit It movies and will tell the story of Pennywise before the events of the 2017 and 2019 films. It’s also bringing in a surprising and familiar face from another King classic.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was confirmed that Dick Hallorann, a beloved character from The Shining, will appear in the new series.

The announcement came straight from Andy and Barbara Muschietti during the Welcome to Derry panel, as reported by Screen Rant. Hallorann will be played by Chris Chalk and will have a much bigger role than his brief appearance in the original It novel.

In King’s book, Hallorann shows up in a short scene set at The Black Spot, a military bar that...

All Hell Breaks Loose In It: Welcome To Derry Trailer As HBO Sets October Premiere For Prequel TV Series
Image
A new trailer for It: Welcome to Derry has been released following a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con yesterday evening, and it teases a sinister, demonic force in the small town, which may be there in addition to Pennywise.

Once again, we see very little of Bill Skarsgård's killer clown, an indication perhaps that his screentime will be fairly limited. That or HBO Max is simply looking to keep the iconic monster and his role in this story under wraps (ensuring there are plenty of surprises for horror fans).

It's also been confirmed that It: Welcome to Derry will premiere this October, meaning we should return to Derry in time for Halloween.

The series, from Warner Bros. Television and developed for television by filmmakers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman), will debut on HBO and also be available to stream on Max. Muschietti will direct...

Image
Things can get spooky at Comic-Con after dark. And thanks the combination of Stephen King and the filmmaking team of Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the It: Welcome to Derry panel delivered the scares Saturday night in San Diego.

The sibling duo shared a new teaser trailer (below), played the opening scene of their upcoming HBO series, which fleshes out stories from King’s sprawling 1986 novel, and explained the impetus behind the initial eight-episode season.

"One of the most fascinating things about the book is the cryptic factor, which is, you hear the story, you know certain things, but you never get to the end of anything. At the end of the book, nobody knows what the hell It is, what does it want? Who is Bob Gray? How did it all happen? We are going to ruin all this," Andy quipped, "by unveiling some of these mysteries, but with very good taste.

The Toxic Avenger (2025): Macon Blair’s Gory, Punk Rock Reboot Is a Love Letter to Troma and a Middle Finger to Convention
Image
Plot: Loosely based on the 1984 cult classic, The Toxic Avenger stars Peter Dinklage as a terminally ill janitor named Winston Gooze who transforms into a mutant vigilante after a toxic accident. He then must rise from outcast to become a hero, battling corporate greed and corruption to protect his community and step son. But does it live up to the cult status of the original?

Review: Let’s get this right off the bat. Director Macon Blair’s riotous remake of The Toxic Avenger might not win over the uninitiated, at first, but for those steeped in the radioactive grime of Tromaville, it’s a sludge-soaked triumph. A worthy spiritual successor to Lloyd Kaufman’s 1984 cult classic, this new iteration is less reboot and more reanimation—one that gleefully rips off its own limbs and reattaches them with the kind of DIY gross-out ingenuity only a Troma fan could love.

Troma's Lloyd Kaufman Passes the Mop to 'Toxic Avenger' Director Macon Blair
Elijah Wood, Macon Blair, Peter Dinklage, and Lloyd Kaufman at an event for The Toxic Avenger (2023)
Legendary low-budget producer Lloyd Kaufman, passed the ceremonial mop to The Toxic Avenger director Macon Blair in San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H on Thursday. The panel—moderated by IMDb's own Bret Federigan—was on stage to hype Blair's remake of the 1984 cult classic that put Troma on the map with its trademark mix of violence, gore, nudity, and crude humor.

Kaufman, 79, praised Blair's reimagining of his cult classic, saying "it was everything [we] tried in the original, but didn’t quite get there." The Troma chief then presented Blair with Toxie's iconic mop in a symbolic gesture that reinforced his support of emerging talent. Kaufman shared that he also received help from big names like Stan Lee (who published the “Toxic Avenger” comic) and producer Roger Corman, who was a friend for decades and supported him in the industry.

Despite his studio's reputation as a purveyor of cinematic sleaze, Troma has featured many up and coming talents over the years, including James Gunn (Tromeo and Juliet), Trey Parker and Matt Stone (Cannibal! The Musical), J.J. Abrams (as composer on Nightbeast), Kevin Costner (Sizzle Beach, U.S.A.), Billy Bob Thornton (Chopper Chicks in Zombietown), and more.

Also participating in the panel were stars Peter Dinklage (Toxie), Elijah Wood, Taylour Paige, and Jacob Tremblay. Learn more about The Toxic Avenger on IMDb before the film releases in theaters on Aug. 28.

‘The Toxic Avenger’ Stars Peter Dinklage, Elijah Wood and More Charm Comic-Con With F-Bombs and Surprising Sincerity
Image
One would expect the cast of “The Toxic Avenger” — a bloody, violent, unrated horror-comedy about janitor-turned-superhero Winston Gooze (Peter Dinklage) whose body is gruesomely deformed from toxic waste — to drop a few f-bombs during their panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday. And that did happen after Dinklage, Elijah Wood, Taylour Paige, Jacob Tremblay, writer-director Macon Blair (“I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore”) and producer Lloyd Kaufman took the stage inside Hall H. Before they even started talking, their co-star Kevin Bacon appeared in a video apologizing for not making it to San Diego, which he capped with a song pleading for people to see what he called a “hilarious, punk, fun, bloody ride” in the theater.

“Stayin’ at home going to make you blue / You need the movies and the movies need you,” Bacon sang. “Down to the theater, try your luck / ‘Toxic Avenger,’ show the fuck up.

The Toxic Avenger's Failed Reboot Plans Recalled By Creator Ahead Of Peter Dinklage's 92% Rt Reboot
Image
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, Toxic Avenger creator and writer Lloyd Kaufman provides details on failed reboot plans. Kaufman is the original creator of the Toxic Avenger character. He served as a writer, producer, and one of the two directors of the original The Toxic Avenger movie in 1984.

Now, Kaufman returns as a producer for the modern remake of The Toxic Avenger. Like the first film, this version tells the story of a janitor who turns into an unlikely hero after a horrific toxic waste accident. This time, Peter Dinklage is in the lead role with a supporting cast that includes Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, and Luisa Guerreiro.

In an interview with ScreenRant at Sdcc, Kaufman speaks about past failed reboots of The Toxic Avenger. In the past, Kaufman said, people proposed that certain "wrestlers" could play the lead or that there could be a "Toxette Avenger," casting a female lead instead.

The Darkest Stephen King Series Ever Made Is Quietly Climbing the Global Streaming Charts 35 Years Later
Image
The original It television miniseries is taking over the global streaming charts ahead of the release of It: Welcome to Derry.

Per FlixPatrol, 1990's It has reached the number five spot on the top streaming series chart for HBO Max for July 9. The classic horror miniseries has blown past other hit shows such as the recently released Duster or Bahar, while quickly gaining momentum from stiffer competition, including The Gilded Age and Rick and Morty, the latter two of which currently hold the number three and number one spots respectively.

Released on ABC back on November 18 and 20 of 1990, the two-part It television miniseries was based on original author Stephen King's iconic 1986 novel of the same name. The series starred Richard Thomas, Annette O'Toole, Harry Anderson, Dennis Christopher, Tim Reid, Richard Masur, and John Ritter as the adult members of the film's Losers Club, who take it upon themselves to...

‘The Toxic Avenger’ Is the First Unrated Horror Movie to Host Its Own Sdcc Hall H Panel!
Image
Iron Man. Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Avengers. Deadpool & Wolverine. The famed Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con has become the go-to place for major studios to preview their upcoming big screen blockbusters, from new installments in billion dollar franchises to Marvel’s latest superhero offerings. Back in 2019, Deadline fittingly referred to San Diego Comic-Con as “Cannes for Capes,” calling Hall H “the biggest stage” at the annual event as well as “a mandatory stop for anybody in the business of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, or superhero fare.”

But many of the major studios – including Marvel and WB/DC – are sitting out Sdcc this year, leaving some big Hall H spots to be filled. And you better believe we’re filling one of them.

Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting are excited to announce today that director Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger will be oozing into Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con this summer!

Peter Dinklage Transforms Into a Hero in Trailer for 'The Toxic Avenger'
Image
How many freak accidents transform normal people into mutant vigilantes in fictional universes? This often happens, actually, in comic books and superhero films, for example, where regular, everyday folks accidentally find themselves with some sort of superpower after coming in contact with spiders, toxic liquid, etc. First, they're in denial, trying to force themselves into believing that nothing happened. Then, it's time to use those new powers for good or bad. It's no different for Peter Dinklage's character in The Toxic Avenger, where his normal life turns into something much different than he'd ever imagined. The exclusive Red Band trailer for the remake of the 1984 film of the same name was released on June 20, and it's already a trending topic.

The two-minute and forty-two-second trailer dropped on IGN's YouTube channel and opened with what the narrator described as "armed political extremists" who held people hostage in a restaurant named Miss Meats.

Macon Blair
Trailer Splashes Out as Unrated Toxic Avenger Books August Theater Date
Macon Blair
A grotesque green janitor regained the spotlight Friday as Cineverse unveiled the uncensored trailer for Macon Blair’s reboot of “The Toxic Avenger,” confirming a U.S. theatrical bow on 29 August 2025, the start of Labor Day weekend. In the two-minute clip, Peter Dinklage’s meek custodian Winston Gooze is shoved into toxic sludge, emerging with a bioluminescent mop and a vendetta against the profit-hungry Garbinger brothers, played with relish by Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood.

Blair—whose debut I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore won Sundance in 2017—said he was “beyond grateful” the film had found a distributor after a bruising search, adding that it is “a fun, rowdy movie you wanna see with a crowd.” That search followed trade whispers branding the picture “unreleasable” for its splatter-heavy violence, despite raucous praise when it opened Fantastic Fest in Austin in 2023. Critics there called the remake “on steroids” and “super gory,...

Toxie Is Mean, Green, And Violently Fighting Crime In New Trailer For Unrated The Toxic Avenger
Image
The first teaser trailer for The Toxic Avenger remake was released in October 2023. Things went quiet after that, though reviews from various film festivals heaped praise on filmmaker Macon Blair's take on Toxie.

A full trailer for the movie has been released (via FearHQ.com), and there's plenty of unhinged violence and a level of craziness that promises to make this another cult classic. Whether it has widespread appeal is another matter, but it likely didn't cost much to produce and stands a good chance of making a tidy little profit.

Back to those reviews, and much of the praise heaped on The Toxic Avenger is featured heavily in the second half of this latest sneak peek. And yes, that's not a lie: this movie will release "unrated."

While Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage lends his voice to Toxie, Luisa Guerreiro, an actor and movement artist, donned the...

Starring Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Taylour Paige, Jacob Tremblay, and Jane Levy, Toxic Avenger has been waiting a while for its release, following its 2023 premiere at Fantastic Fest.
