Passion Pictures to Adapt Rachel Bright Children’s Books as Animated TV Series – Global Bulletin

Passion Pictures is set to adapt a series of children’s author Rachel Bright’s books for screen.

Passion inked the deal with Hachette Children’s Group. It includes much-loved stories such as “The Lion Inside,” “The Koala Who Could” and “The Squirrels Who Squabbled,” illustrated by Jim Field.

The books, which have sold millions of copies across the globe, are set to be turned into animated half-hour specials.

Debbie Crosscup, executive producer at Passion Pictures, added: “We are absolutely delighted to be bringing Rachel Bright and Jim Field’s beautiful books to the screen. Their stories are filled with warmth, humour, and valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and self-discovery. We believe they have the potential to resonate deeply with audiences of all ages on a global scale.”

Warner Bros Discovery Reshapes International Kids Team; Pablo Zuccarino Upped & Christopher Ho Out

Warner Bros Discovery’s international kids content unit has reshaped, with several execs taking on expanded roles and Apac chief Christopher Ho exiting.

Kids content chief Vanessa Brookman outlined the changes in the past few minutes in a note to staff seen by Deadline. She was promoted to Gm of Kids, Global Streaming and International Networks in December last year.

Pablo Zuccarino, Ana González, Sean Henry, Sean Gorman and Mark Taynton are all taking expanded leaderships roles, with Michelle Truong moving from Michael Ouweleen’s U.S. to become Manager, Original Animation and Ho, who is VP of Kids for Apac, exiting “as result of these changes,” according to Brookman.

Brookman thanked Ho and added: “Chris has been a passionate advocate and leader of the kids business across the region. He has been a huge champion for our kids content and brands throughout Apac, demonstrating audience expertise, creative excellence and consummate professionalism throughout his tenure.

‘Tom and Jerry’ Singapore Variant Sets Launch – Global Bulletin

The first ever localized “Tom and Jerry” series, featuring the cartoon cat and mouse in Singapore, will premiere in Southeast and South Asia, Australia and New Zealand on Cartoon Network on Oct. 21. It will also stream on HBO Go in Southeast Asia. Episodes will be globally available via the Cartoon Network Asia YouTube channel.

In the seven-part series, the cartoon frenemies weave through colorful neighborhoods, modern skyscrapers and city-in-nature experiences. New episodes will air weekly.

“It was important for us to create stories and environments that feel authentically Singapore – and at the same time honor the distinct animation style and sense of humor that has made Tom and Jerry so well loved for generations,” said Christopher Ho, head of kids at Southeast Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery.

“Tom and Jerry” has run to more than 500 episodes and 15 movies in an 83-year history, securing seven Academy Awards along the way.

‘Tom And Jerry’ Set To Spar In Singapore; First Ever Localized Version To Premiere On Cartoon Network & HBO Go

Warner Bros Discovery has announced the first ever localized version of the Tom And Jerry series, featuring the famous cat and mouse duo as they take their rivalry to Singapore.

Produced locally in Asia, in association with Warner Bros Animation, the new 7×3-minute series will premiere on Cartoon Network in Asia Pacific and HBO Go in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong later this year, before being rolled out internationally.

A pilot episode giving a flavour of what’s to come will launch in August – further details will be announced soon. Watch a teaser video here.

The project is produced by Warner Bros Discovery’s Carlene Tan, with Vivek Bolar serving as lead director. India’s Aum Animation Studios handled the animation, with stories and designs from Singapore-based Robot Playground Media and Chips and Toon Studios.

‘Tom and Jerry’ Asia Version Set at Cartoon Network, HBO Go

“Tom and Jerry,” one of the most iconic animation franchises in history, is to get a localized new version made with Southeast Asian audiences in mind.

The cat and mouse duo will take their chases to the streets, buildings and cityscapes of Singapore in a 7 x 3-minute series of shorts, produced locally in Asia, and in association with Warner Bros. Animation. A pilot episode will launch in August.

The show is destined to play on Cartoon Network in Asia Pacific and HBO Go, Warner Bros. Discovery’s interim streaming platform in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong later this year, before being rolled out internationally.

Wbd’s Boomerang Channel Rebrands as Cartoonito in Asia

Warner Bros. Discovery will rebrand its kids’ TV channel Boomerang to Cartoonito in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, with effect from July 28.

The company said that the “switch is a result of positive feedback to the Cartoonito-branded block on Boomerang and Cartoon Network launched in 2022, and is focused on being more inclusive to pre-school aged viewers.”

Sources close to the company explained that the move is “part of a big regional and global commitment by Wbd to preschool content.” It follows Cartoonito rebrands and launches in other international territories including Emea and LatAm.

As a full regional channel offering, Cartoonito will introduce a new generation to a diverse slate of original series and franchises. Modern preschool adaptations that support children’s potential include fan-favourite franchises such as “Batwheels” and “Bugs Bunny Builders.”
