Instantly recognizable by his short stature, Southern drawl, and giddy personality, Leslie Jordan was an American movie and TV legend and an LGBTQ+ icon. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jordan moved to Los Angeles where he began his career as an actor in the 1980s. He used his uniqueness to his advantage to land some truly iconic roles both on the big and small screens. Although Jordan appeared in many guest roles on TV episodes through the ‘80s and ‘90s, he really found his stride in the 2000s.
Jordan’s sudden death from a car crash caused by cardiac dysfunction in 2022 prompted a wave of grief from his fellow actors and artists in Hollywood. The outpouring of love for the comedian littered social media sites like X, including posts from celebrities like Jennifer Hudson and Mayim Bialik. Looking back on Jordan’s body of work, there are so many movies and...

Call Me Kat, starring Mayim Bialik, was canceled by Fox after three seasons due to declining ratings and negative reviews. The sitcom experienced a decrease in viewership over time, with season 3 averaging 2.2 million viewers and a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 age group. Critics and audiences criticized the show's content as cringey and underutilizing Bialik's comedic talent, leading to its ultimate cancelation.
One day following the Call Me Kat season 3 finale, Fox announced that it would also serve as the sitcom's series finale since the network canceled the show. Call Me Kat premiered in January 2021 and starred Mayim Bialik as Kat, a single woman in her late 30s who quit her job as a professor at the University of Louisville following the death of her father to pursue her dream of opening a cat café (which she does with the money that her parents gave her for her wedding one day...

New images from Call Me Kat season 3 reveal Vicki Lawrence as the mother of the late Leslie Jordan's character Phil. Call Me Kat, which premiered on Fox in 2021, is a remake of the British series Miranda following Mayim Bialik as Kat, a single woman in her late 30s who runs a cat café. Jordan was part of the main cast, portraying the head baker at the café until his death in a car accident this October.
This week, TV Insider shared a collection of images from the upcoming mid-season premiere of Call Me Kat season 3, which airs on January 5, 2023. On Fox’s sophomore Mayim Bialik comedy, Call Me Kat, wrangling cats at the Louisville cafe is only part what keeps the characters busy. Take the February 17 episode: First, a broken romance sparks a suddenly single Sheila (Swoosie Kurtz) — whose boyfriend Preston cheated on her in a recent episode — to keep her lovers’ vacation to Bora Bora…and she recruits Phil (Leslie Jordan) to join her. “We get there and we figure out that they still have Preston’s credit card on file,” says Jordan. While there are laughs as Phil pretends to be an über-masculine Preston, there is also a touching moment for the characters. “Twice I forgot to say my lines because I was so enthralled with [Swoosie],” he adds. Also in the episode, Max (Cheyenne Jackson) feels the need to rein in his diet and decides to go on a cleanse, recruiting Carter (Julian Gant) and Oscar (Christopher Rivas) to join him.
