Showing Up Trailer: Michelle Williams And Kelly Reichardt Reunite For A Tender Slice Of Life Drama
Image
The title of "best Michelle Williams performance in recent years" is officially up for debate. This much, everyone can agree on: she absolutely dazzles in Steven Spielberg's autobiographical ode to cinema, "The Fablemans," stealing the show as the free-spirited mother who encourages Sammy's artistic sensibilities. But that just makes it all the more stunning to catch a glimpse of her in "Showing Up," where she plays a frazzled Portland sculptor whose professional and personal lives are crumbling around her. Based on early reviews out of Cannes and NYFF, this is yet another masterclass performance from Williams and another showcase for the talents of director Kelly Reichardt.

Given Reichardt's track record with contemplative dramas about the American working class, the premise of "Showing Up" should be no surprise. Per the synopsis, "A sculptor (Williams) preparing to open a new show must balance her creative life with the daily dramas of family and friends,...

‘Showing Up’ Trailer: Kelly Reichardt Returns with Portland-Set Pigeon Comedy
Image
Three years after dazzling audiences with the Oregon Trail period piece “First Cow,” Kelly Reichardt is returning to the state for another animal-centric film. “Showing Up,” Reichardt’s new film from A24, tells the story of a struggling Portland sculptor (Michelle Williams), who befriends a wounded pigeon while she prepares for a major art show as her professional and personal lives crumble around her.

“Showing Up” marks the fourth collaboration between Reichardt and Williams. They first worked together on “Wendy and Lucy,” the 2008 film about a homeless woman’s quest for a lost dog, which helped establish Reichardt as a major independent filmmaker. They collaborated again on Meek’s Cutoff, a 2010 period piece about the harsh conditions that Oregon settlers faced in the mid-1800s. Most recently, Williams starred alongside Kristen Stewart and Laura Dern in “Certain Women,” Reichardt’s innovative adaptation of three Maile Meloy short stories that followed...

The Outre Eye of Daniel Xiii Featuring Rows, Bride Of Re-animator, The Stuff, and More!
Hannah Bernall in Rows (2015)
Marshmallow fluff, ladies stitched together from corpses, and sex-crazed rabbit/human hybrids… this can only mean one thing: it’s family game night in the Crypt o’ Xiii! Or it’s time for another batch of revoltin’ reviews… I always get those mixed up, often with hilarious (and litigious) results…

What’s this? A new fright flick that advertises itself as a Gothic horror/psychological thriller inspired by the works of The Brothers Grimm (and just so happens to be set in a cornfield)? This is either going to end up mind-blowing, or just plain blowing (or it could just be mediocre, I suppose). Well, let’s see how corny ol’ Rows gets!

Exclusive Clip from Lovely Molly
Lovely Molly will be released to Blu-ray/DVD tomorrow and we’ve been given an exclusive clip to share with our readers. This particular clip shows a segment from the film where Molly is investigating noises in her house. It includes commentary from director Eduardo Sánchez and co-writer Jamie Nash, who talk about how working inside of a claustrophobic house helped get everyone into the right mood.

“When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, remainders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. A malevolent force, whether her own huanted past or some supernatural ‘thing,’ tirelessly seeks to overwhelm her. Alone and isolated in a centuries-old house, she soon begins an inexorable descent into depravity. Somewhere in the house, in that terrible space between psychosis and possession, lies an evil that will pull Molly and all those around her into darkness and death.”

Facing Terror with Lovely Molly: A Movie Review
Director: Eduardo Sánchez. Writers: Jamie Nash and Eduardo Sánchez. Cast: Alexandra Holden, Johnny Lewis, Gretchen Lodge, Ken Arnold, and Lauren Lakis. Lovely Molly is a film from director Eduardo Sánchez. Sánchez might be best known for his work on the Blair Witch Project (1999). In his latest, he sticks with horror and perhaps Sánchez further perfects his art with Lovely Molly. After all, this is a truly unsettling picture with actress Gretchen Lodge playing an often tormented Molly. This film's many horrifying scenes might make viewers question the source of Molly's increasingly violent actions. This reviewer believes the events are caused by three elements: a supernatural site (haunted house), abuse and possession. These three elements come together like a whirlwind of terror in the film's story. That terror comes from the writing team of Jamie Nash and Sánchez. These two have written a horrifying tale, which puts Molly up against a demonic force.

C: Chris Magorian, Gary-Kayi Fletcher, Ryan Thomas, Megan Rippey, Lauren Lakis, Shawn C. Phillips, Ruby Larocca, Nicolette Le Faye

Two microbrewers find themselves up the creek after a witch curses their beer and it starts killing off anyone that drinks it.

Lately, horror films in general have been so serious in tone that they have forgotten about that sense of wonder or fun that made a lot of the horror films of yesteryear so popular with fans of the genre. Witch’s Brew harkens back to those days when horror films used to be fun, when they wanted to provide audiences with a good time. Witch’s Brew allows writer/director/producer Chris Lamartina to go full throttle in terms of creativity. He just really goes for it. Witch’s Brew is a perfect combination of modern day inventiveness while still capturing the feeling...
