Back in 2019, music mogul Scooter Braun purchased the rights to the original recordings of Taylor Swift’s first six albums.

This proved to be a blessing in disguise for Swifties, who were subsequently treated to the “Taylor’s Version” albums, recorded as part of Swift’s efforts to regain control over her own intellectual property.

But Braun still earned a spot on every Swiftie’s enemy list.

Braun subsequently sold the recordings to Shamrock Capital for an undisclosed profit. But according to a new report from Page Six, the company is now looking to sell.

And in an unexpected twist to this six-year saga, Scooter is reportedly encouraging Taylor to buy back her own music.

Starring an earnest Vince Vaughn, the film gushes sentimentality with a plot championing the culinary skills of grandmothers. Vaughn’s Joe Scaravella’s persistent desire to open a restaurant where the chefs are all Italian grandmothers (nonnas) is an intriguing setup for a feel-good movie. We open with lead protagonist Joe Scaravella’s (Vince Vaughn) childhood memory of his mother and nonna (grandma) producing culinary marvels in the old kitchen. Joe’s friends, the married couple Bruno (Joe Manganiello) and Stella (Drea de Matteo), console him.

Directed by Stephen Chbosky, Nonnas is a heartwarming retelling of a true story that started with death but transformed into something magical and healing. Joe Scaravella had grown up watching his mother and grandmother (nonna) prepare delicious meals, and he had subconsciously developed a strong connection with food. When his mother passed away, he felt the sudden need to recreate the dishes that she used to make. He wanted to feel closer to her, and food was the only way he knew how. Joe had her insurance money, and his friends advised him to use it to clear his debts or maybe even start a hobby. But to their surprise, Joe ended up buying a restaurant on Staten Island. It was his way of paying homage to his nonna and his mother and the soulful dishes they lovingly prepared. So, was the restaurant a success? Let’s find out.

Foreigner have tapped singer-actor Geordie Brown as the frontman for their upcoming 2025 Canadian tour.

Brown notably starred in the Foreigner musical Jukebox Hero, which had its original sold-out run in Toronto in 2019 and is set to return in 2026. The Canadian stage actor will be stepping in for singer Kelly Hansen, who will be absent from the 13-date tour for undisclosed reasons.

Naughty Dog's best-selling game franchise, The Last of Us, features unique and innovative accessibility mechanics, especially regarding the infected monsters called Clickers, whose fungus has blinded them, and therefore they rely on their hyper-sensitive hearing to track down prey. Players relied on their hearing to stealth their way past Clickers, but Naughty Dog found an equally scary and interactive way for deaf players to avoid the fungus monsters, which involved visual clues instead of auditory ones. Now, the show is embodying the game's accessibility by releasing an American Sign Language version of the first season, as well as one of the upcoming second season, featuring Coda's Daniel Durant.

The “clickers” in the “The Last of Us” are zombies whose fungus has grown so infected, it has both blinded them and made their hearing hyper-sensitive. In the video game on which the hit HBO television series is based, players use stealth to evade them and respond to the sound of the monsters’ clicks in order to survive.

For Deaf players, developer Naughty Dog’s game is top of the line in terms of accessibility, implementing subtle visual cues to make players aware of looming danger, putting those players on equal footing with hearing players. Reflecting on their long-term deal with the NBA, ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro and EVP of Programming & Acquisitions Rosalyn Durant said the rise of the WNBA of late provided extra motivation to renew.

Already facing a $5 million lawsuit from California over its marketing practices, Prime is now being sued by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (Usopc) over how it branded its collaboration with Olympic gold medalist and Phoenix Suns power forward Kevin Durant.

Prime launched a Durant-branded version of its core Prime Hydration drink July 9, which featured a navy blue wraparound label with a gold star. It’s far from Prime’s first athlete collaboration (just look at this lineup), but it is the first to result in a lawsuit.

The Usopc alleges that Prime’s promotional material included phrases like “Team USA Kevin Durant Drink,” “Kevin Durant Olympic Prime Drink,” and “Going for Gold,” along with the more generic “Olympic” and “Olympian.” Those latter two, along with “Going for Gold” and “Team USA,” are all trademarked by the committee.

Deaf artists Shaheem Sanchez, Anjel Piñero and Daniel Durant were introduced during the game before their performances. Sanchez performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing” with Andra Day, Piñero was introduced to perform alongside Post Malone “America, The Beautiful” and Durant interpreted the National Anthem alongside Reba McEntire.

Deaf artists Anjel Piñero, Shaheem Sanchez and Daniel Durant were set to perform Asl during this year’s Super Bowl — but viewers watching the CBS telecast may not have actually seen them on air. That’s according to Oscar winner and Deaf actor Marlee Matlin, who expressed her frustration with the network on social media.

Marlee Matlin sent a strong message about her displeasure at CBS’ coverage of the Super Bowl Lviii pregame show on Sunday.

The Oscar-winning actress was referring to the trio of pregame performances by Post Malone, who sang “America the Beautiful”; Andra Day, who performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing”; and Reba McEntire, who performed the national anthem.

On behalf of the National Association of the Deaf, actor-choreographer Shaheem Sanchez performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing” in Asl; actress, model and dancer Anjel Piñero performed “America the Beautiful” in Asl; and Coda actor Daniel Durant signed the national anthem.

The sports drama, inspired by NBA star Kevin Durant’s experiences as a kid, has been cancelled after two seasons at the streamer. Series creator Reggie Rock Bythewood shared the news of the cancellation on Instagram Thursday.

“What an amazing adventure. In our two seasons, we have launched careers, disrupted genre, brought forth humanity through our characters, told stories we care deeply about, revolutionized the way to shoot basketball and had fun,” he wrote.

He added: “Apple, while you are not ordering a season three, I made the show I wanted to make. Thank you for that. Cast, writers and crew, you have my gratitude. Walk off the set with Swagger. For our FAMbase, you lifted us in ways we could have never imagined. To the industry, don’t take your foot off the gas. Keep telling our stories.”

While Kevin Durant is considered one of the greatest basketball players in history, that sway is not enough to bring back Swagger for a third season on Apple TV+. It was announced that the series would be cancelled after two seasons. Durant serves as an executive producer on the series as it’s loosely inspired by the events of his life.

“Swagger” has been canceled at Apple TV+ after two seasons.

Series creator Reggie Rock Bythewood shared the news with fans via Instagram. “What an amazing adventure,” he wrote. “In our two seasons, we have launched careers, disrupted genre, brought forth humanity through our characters, told stories we care deeply about, revolutionized the way to shoot basketball and had fun.”

Bythewood went on to thank the creative team behind the show as well as producer CBS Studios. “Apple, while you are not ordering a season three, I made the show I wanted to make. Thank you for that,” he continued.

“For our FAMbase, you lifted us in ways we could have never imagined. To the industry, don’t take your foot off the gas. Keep telling our stories,” he concluded.

The series about a high school basketball star (played by Isaiah Hill) and his journey through the world of youth hoops is loosely inspired by the life of NBA star Kevin Durant, who’s an executive producer. The cancellation comes a few months after season two’s final episode streamed in August.

ESPN has secured the media rights to Tgl presented by Sofi, a tech-forward, match-format TV golf competition founded by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and former NBC Sports executive Mike McCarley. The series will debut on Jan. 9.

All of the golf matches will air on ESPN or ESPN2 and will be simulcast to ESPN+. There will be 15 regular season matches, plus semifinals and finals. Additionally, ABC will air a Tgl presented by Sofi preview show on Dec. 30, ahead of the league debut.

The first Tgl match will air in primetime on ESPN and ESPN+, the night following the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Rosalyn Durant, ESPN executive vice president of programming and acquisitions, and McCarley announced the multi-year deal on Thursday.

ESPN has secured the media rights for Tgl, and will debut the league Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, the day after the College Football Playoff National Championship. The second match will run Tuesday Jan. 16, the night after ESPN’s Monday Night Football NFL Wild Card game, giving both matches a football-driven promotional boost.

There will be 15 regular season matches, plus semifinals and finals matches.

All the matches will run on ESPN or ESPN2, and will also be simulcast on ESPN+. ABC will also air a Tgl preview show Saturday, Dec. 30. Tmrw Sports and ESPN say that it is a “multi-year partnership.”

Exclusive: Ahead of Saturday’s Season 2 premiere for his Apple sports drama series Swagger at the Tribeca Festival, actor Isaiah Hill has taken on new representation, signing with APA in all areas.

In the series created by Reggie Rock Blythewood, which returns to Apple TV+ on June 23rd, Hill plays Jayce Carson, a character loosely inspired by pro basketball player Kevin Durant, which examines his experiences as a young phenom on the Aau circuit before he made it to the NBA.

Durant, Blythewood and Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer are among the show’s exec producers, with O’Shea Jackson Jr., Shinelle Azoroh, Tessa Ferrer, Quvenzhané Wallis, Caleel Harris, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe, Jason Rivera-Torres and Tristan Wilds rounding out its cast.

The breakout star of the series, which premiered in October of 2021, continues to be represented by Artistry Collective and Strategic PR.

Exclusive: Jessica Alba (Sin City), Russell Harvard (Fargo), and Daniel Durant (Coda) are attached to star in sports feature film Flash Before the Bang, inspired by the true story of an all-deaf high school track and field team in 1980’s Oregon.

The film heralds from deaf writer-director Jevon Whetter, on whose experience the story is based. Oscar winners Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are exec producers along with Fanshen Cox in association with Trujulo Productions. Jessica Alba is also an exec producer.

Production is due begin in September in Georgia on the project, in which more than half of the characters in the ensemble cast will deaf and portrayed by deaf actors.
