Taylor Swift Might Finally Buy Back Her Original Recordings (And Rival Scooter Braun …
Image
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Back in 2019, music mogul Scooter Braun purchased the rights to the original recordings of Taylor Swift’s first six albums.

This proved to be a blessing in disguise for Swifties, who were subsequently treated to the “Taylor’s Version” albums, recorded as part of Swift’s efforts to regain control over her own intellectual property.

But Braun still earned a spot on every Swiftie’s enemy list.

Braun subsequently sold the recordings to Shamrock Capital for an undisclosed profit. But according to a new report from Page Six, the company is now looking to sell.

And in an unexpected twist to this six-year saga, Scooter is reportedly encouraging Taylor to buy back her own music.

Nonnas (2025) ‘Netflix’ Movie Review & Ending Explained: Does Joe’s Restaurant Survive?
Stephen Chbosky
Directed by Stephen Chbosky and with an all-star cast, Netflix’s “Nonnas” is an unremarkable retelling of a remarkable event. Surprisingly, that might just be enough if you are in the right mood. Starring an earnest Vince Vaughn, the film gushes sentimentality with a plot championing the culinary skills of grandmothers. Vaughn’s Joe Scaravella’s persistent desire to open a restaurant where the chefs are all Italian grandmothers (nonnas) is an intriguing setup for a feel-good movie. Let us analyze how the film fares with that premise.

Nonnas (2025) Netflix Plot Summary and Movie Synopsis:

We open with lead protagonist Joe Scaravella’s (Vince Vaughn) childhood memory of his mother and nonna (grandma) producing culinary marvels in the old kitchen. Now a fifty-something-year-old man, Joe reminisces about those fond memories on the day of his mother’s funeral. Joe’s friends, the married couple Bruno (Joe Manganiello) and Stella (Drea de Matteo), console him.

‘Nonnas’ Movie Ending Explained & Summary: What Happens To Olivia And Joe?
Image
Directed by Stephen Chbosky, Nonnas is a heartwarming retelling of a true story that started with death but transformed into something magical and healing. Joe Scaravella had grown up watching his mother and grandmother (nonna) prepare delicious meals, and he had subconsciously developed a strong connection with food. When his mother passed away, he felt the sudden need to recreate the dishes that she used to make. He wanted to feel closer to her, and food was the only way he knew how. Joe had her insurance money, and his friends advised him to use it to clear his debts or maybe even start a hobby. But to their surprise, Joe ended up buying a restaurant on Staten Island. It was his way of paying homage to his nonna and his mother and the soulful dishes they lovingly prepared. So, was the restaurant a success? Let’s find out.

Clown In A Cornfield – Review
Image
Last week, the big Summer cinema season kicked off with another trip to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with another Impossible Mission and a Disney remake debuting in just a few weeks. So, does that mean that horror fanatics (Aka “gore-hounds”) will have to wait for the cooler temps for their “fright fix”? Well, Rosario gave up some scares last week, and that late April “sleeper smash” Sinners is still dishing up some plasma with its blues soundtrack. So, why not a new chiller featuring the “go-to” thriller icons of the last couple of decades? No, we’re not talking about more vampires, werewolves, or zombies, but less supernatural creeps. Yes, it’s those brightly garbed, painted-on-smiles, former kids entertainers, that are now nightmare “fodder” after several “Jokers” and Pennywise of the It flicks. And how about seeing their oversized feet tromping about the usually tranquil heartland? Who wouldn’t dash...

Max to Release Asl Version of 'The Last of Us' Before Season 2 Debut
Image
With the second season of HBO's hit apocalyptic drama show starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey on the horizon, The Last of Usis making groundbreaking strides in accessibility to further encompass the spirit of the video game it's based on. Naughty Dog's best-selling game franchise, The Last of Us, features unique and innovative accessibility mechanics, especially regarding the infected monsters called Clickers, whose fungus has blinded them, and therefore they rely on their hyper-sensitive hearing to track down prey. Players relied on their hearing to stealth their way past Clickers, but Naughty Dog found an equally scary and interactive way for deaf players to avoid the fungus monsters, which involved visual clues instead of auditory ones. Now, the show is embodying the game's accessibility by releasing an American Sign Language version of the first season, as well as one of the upcoming second season, featuring Coda's Daniel Durant.

‘The Last of Us’ Gets Asl Edition on Max from ‘Coda’ Star Daniel Durant Ahead of Season 2
Image
The “clickers” in the “The Last of Us” are zombies whose fungus has grown so infected, it has both blinded them and made their hearing hyper-sensitive. In the video game on which the hit HBO television series is based, players use stealth to evade them and respond to the sound of the monsters’ clicks in order to survive.

For Deaf players, developer Naughty Dog’s game is top of the line in terms of accessibility, implementing subtle visual cues to make players aware of looming danger, putting those players on equal footing with hearing players. It’s only fitting then that the series adaptation of “The Last of Us” be as inclusive for Deaf viewers as the game is.

HBO is set to launch an Asl version of both the first season of its hit series “The Last of Us” and the upcoming second season, IndieWire can reveal exclusively. Daniel Durant,...

Image
Not many people can say they’ve been kicked out of a locker room at the Olympics or have made NBA superstar Kevin Durant cry, but director Jake Rogal got an all-access pass to the Paris Summer Olympic Games for Netflix’s basketball documentary “Court of Gold.”

Rogal, who produced the Michael Jordan documentary “The Last Dance,” returned to the basketball court but took a much more international lens for the Olympics action. He traded Jordan for current basketball superstars like LeBron James, Steph Curry and Durant, plus foreign talents including Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama. Across six episodes, “Court of Gold” follows basketball teams from the U.S., France, Serbia and Canada as they chased Olympic glory in Paris last summer. Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground produced the series.

WNBA’s “Rising Tide” Of Popularity Played Key Role In Disney NBA Renewal, ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro Says
Image
Reflecting on their long-term deal with the NBA, ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro and EVP of Programming & Acquisitions Rosalyn Durant said the rise of the WNBA of late provided extra motivation to renew.

“There’s a lot of demand for WNBA content right now, which, from our perspective, is fantastic,” Pitaro said during a press call. The call was arranged after the league’s confirmation of long-rumored rights deals with Disney-espn, NBCUniversal and Prime Video, at a reported $77 billion over 11 years.

“We’re looking at a rising tide right now, where we’re seeing our competitors in the industry really get behind women’s sports in general and behind the WNBA,” Pitaro continued. “And that’s a good thing! We love the momentum around women’s sports in general but especially around the WNBA.”

The NBA created the WNBA in 1996, but only in the past several years has it seen a...

Olympic Committee sues Prime for “millions of dollars” over its collab with Kevin Durant
Image
Logan Paul and Ksi‘s Prime has landed in more legal trouble.

Already facing a $5 million lawsuit from California over its marketing practices, Prime is now being sued by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (Usopc) over how it branded its collaboration with Olympic gold medalist and Phoenix Suns power forward Kevin Durant.

Prime launched a Durant-branded version of its core Prime Hydration drink July 9, which featured a navy blue wraparound label with a gold star. It’s far from Prime’s first athlete collaboration (just look at this lineup), but it is the first to result in a lawsuit.

The Usopc alleges that Prime’s promotional material included phrases like “Team USA Kevin Durant Drink,” “Kevin Durant Olympic Prime Drink,” and “Going for Gold,” along with the more generic “Olympic” and “Olympian.” Those latter two, along with “Going for Gold” and “Team USA,” are all trademarked by the committee.

‘Darkman’ 4K Review – Sam Raimi’s Horror-Superhero Movie Is Better Than Ever in 2024
Image
Do you remember the answer to the question, Who is Darkman? If not, Scream Factory invites you to revisit Sam Raimi’s first foray into superhero films with their brand new 4K Ultra HD release of 1990’s Darkman launching February 20th.

After being unable to obtain the rights to The Shadow, Raimi decided to mix traits from other popular crime fighters and classic Universal Monsters and pour them into the base of his own unique and tragic figure, Darkman. And this unique character is one who could disguise themselves as anyone they wanted to be.

With prospects like Bill Paxton and Gary Oldman interested in the lead, Raimi rolled the dice on virtual unknown Liam Neeson for his first ever starring role. Raimi also took a gamble on another longshot, his roommate Frances McDormand for the female lead after Julia Roberts bowed out due to personal reasons and became the Pretty Woman.

10 Great Movie Remakes That Are Nothing Like The Original
Image
Remakes can be distinct films that offer innovative interpretations while still paying homage to the original, as seen in films like Coda and 12 Monkeys. A successful remake can breathe new life into familiar stories and make them more relevant or appealing to contemporary audiences, like The Magnificent Seven (2016) and War of the Worlds (2005). Some remakes stand out for their significant changes from the original, such as Little Shop of Horrors (1986) and The Thing (1982), which introduced new elements and endings that made them unique and memorable.

Hollywood is no stranger to remaking films, and sometimes these remakes are so unique they become entirely new movies that are nothing like the original. Thanks to advancing graphic effects, CGI, and changing societal and cultural views, there's a growing trend to give classic films a fresh spin or explore new storytelling methods. This trend shows that remakes don't have to live in the shadow of their predecessors.

Inspired by NBA star Kevin Durant’s experiences as a kid, Swagger explored the world of elite youth basketball clubs, the players, their families and coaches. In addition to Jackson, it starred Isaiah Hill, Shinelle Azoroh, Quvenzhané Wallis, Caleel Harris, Tristan Mack Wilds, Tessa Ferrer, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe and Jason Riveram.

In an Instagram post sharing news of the cancellation, series creator Reggie Rock Bythewood thanked Apple for allowing him to make “the show I wanted to make.”

‘Barbie’ Proves Movie Soundtracks Are Back – and Why They’re Important
Image
As expected, “Barbie” has simply dominated the box office, becoming only the second movie this year to hit the $1 billion mark. But it’s also crushing music charts too.

The soundtrack shattered UK records, and Ryan Gosling’s banger of a power ballad, “I’m Just Ken,” cracked Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The album as a whole — complete with tracks from Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and Nicki Minaj that each have more than 100 million streams on Spotify to date, which, for scale, beats out every track on Taylor Swift’s re-release of “Speak Now” — debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 Chart on Friday, in what Billboard itself regarded as “the closest race for No. 1” this year.

Now, is the “Barbie” soundtrack an exception amid today’s movie soundtracks? Well, no. It’s actually an example of precisely how these albums are still a key piece of the business — at least for studios.

Stephen Curry Underrated Review
Image
Stephen "Steph" Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history. The Golden State Warriors point guard has won four championships, was twice-voted the most valuable player, and dominated the 2022 NBA Finals as Mvp. He holds the league record for most three-pointers with an astonishing 3,390 made in a career that's far from over. Curry has single-handedly transformed modern basketball with his incredible skill and fortitude. No one could have predicted such grandeur when he was drafted. Curry has had to fight his entire life to prove the doubters wrong.

Stephen Curry: Underrated follows the superstar athlete during the 2021-22 NBA season. It also tells his backstory as a short, scrawny, and undersized kid that was constantly underestimated. The oldest son of former NBA great Dell Curry and his wife, Sonya, a standout volleyball player at Virginia Tech, had the family pedigree but earned his place at every turn. He wasn't...

‘Swagger’ Creator Reggie Rock Bythewood on How Emmett Till Painting Influenced the Narrative of Apple TV+ Series
Image
When Francie Calfo, then-president of television at Imagine Entertainment, first reached out to Reggie Rock Bythewood to gauge his interest in the sports drama that would become Swagger, he wasn’t immediately on board.

“There was something really interesting happening during that time,” recalls Bythewood, the creator, writer, director and executive producer of the Apple TV+ series. “In that same week, two other people hit me about basketball projects. I was like, ‘What is in the air?’

Still, Bythewood was somewhat intrigued by the idea of a TV show loosely inspired by NBA star Kevin Durant’s youth basketball days. So, he took a 45-minute flight from Los Angeles to Oakland, California — where Durant was playing for the Golden State Warriors at the time — and met with the 6’10″ pro baller, who’s also an executive producer of the series. It was then that the filmmaker’s level of interest changed...

Of course, the Apple TV+ series also focuses on the other characters, but fans know that the real star is Jace. However, like many other sports shows and movies, some wonder if...

Teen Prodigy Victor Wembanyama Will Play For The San Antonio Spurs As Team Wins NBA Draft Lottery, Changing The Balance Of Power In The League

Victor Wembanyama, the best NBA prospect since at least LeBron James, will likely play for the San Antonio Spurs. The team won the NBA’s closely-watched draft lottery tonight and will, unless something bizarre happens, draft the 7’3″ Frenchman next month.

The news instantly vaults the lowly the San Antonio Spurs into playoff contention. It will also ensure sold out arenas for years to come for the franchise, as well as a vastly-increased national TV presence on TNT, ABC and ESPN.

The 19-year-old Wembanyama has an eight-foot wingspan and is an outstanding shot-blocker. He often draws comparisons to perennial All Star Kevin Durant, not just for his willowy frame but...
