‘The Machine’ Review
Stars: Toby Stephens, Caity Lotz, Sam Hazeldine, Denis Lawson, Lee Nicholas Harris, Pooneh Hajimohammadi, John Stylianou, Sule Rimi | Written and Directed by Caradog W. James

Robots fascinate us, just think of a movie or book that looks at the nature of robotics and you’ll be able to come up with at least one. The Machine is a film that appears to focus on robots, and one of the main characters is in fact just that. Underneath this though is an interesting look at Artificial Intelligence and the question of when does a machine become classed as a living being?

With the UK and China stuck in a cold war where the race for technological supremacy is the key to gaining advantage two doctors are given the task to build an artificial intelligence capable of being self-aware. Vincent (Stephens) and Ava (Lotz) attempt to create this for the good of humanity,...

We’ve got just over a week to wait for Danny Boyle’s Trance, and all that we’ve seen so far has our interest piqued for the psychological crime-thriller.

James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel, and Rosario Dawson take the lead here, making up an impressive leading trio. And after catching the first TV spot, MSN have debuted a new featurette, taking us behind the scenes of Boyle’s return behind the camera.

Starring alongside McAvoy, Cassel, and Dawson will be Tuppence Middleton, Danny Sapani, Lee Nicholas Harris, and Wahab Sheikh.

Danny Boyle’s Trance is pretty much guaranteed to be awesome, and earns its place and then some amongst our must-see movies of the month.

The latest red-band trailer debuted last month, giving us a brilliant new look at the film. And now Fox have released the first slightly more work-friendly TV spot ahead of its release in the Us in a few weeks’ time.

New Red-Band Trailer for Danny Boyle’s Trance with James McAvoy
Danny Boyle’s Trance has fast become one of our most anticipated films of the spring, with a brilliant leading cast in James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson, and Vincent Cassel.

The first trailer landed earlier in the year, only serving to fuel our anticipation. And now Yahoo Movies have released a new red-band trailer. And as you can imagine, this one’s not suitable viewing for work.

“A fine art auctioneer mixed up with a gang joins forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur the stakes rise faster than anyone could have anticipated.”

McAvoy, Dawson, and Cassel are joined in Trance by Tuppence Middleton, Danny Sapani, Lee Nicholas Harris, and Wahab Sheikh.

New Quad Poster for Danny Boyle’s Trance
Danny Boyle’s Trance is fast becoming one of the spring’s most anticipated movies. The psychological crime-thriller marks the director’s eagerly-awaited return behind the camera for his first film since 127 Hours, and following his work directing the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympics last year.

The first trailer for the film landed earlier in the month. And since then, we’ve seen three teaser posters, with one for each of the leading trio in James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson, and most recently Vincent Cassel.

Now the first quad poster for the film has arrived, giving us another great look at the film. (Albeit with Cassel’s pose on the poster somewhat reminiscent of that of Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Rian Johnson’s Looper.)

“A fine art auctioneer mixed up with a gang joins forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion...

New Teaser Poster for Danny Boyle’s Trance – ‘Do You Feel Safe?’
Danny Boyle’s return to the big screen this spring with Trance has been building momentum and anticipation nicely in recent weeks.

We saw an excellent first trailer earlier in the month. And that’s since been followed with the first two teaser posters in a new set, with some great new taglines, adding to the intrigue surrounding the film.

Those first teasers gave us a look at James McAvoy and Rosario Dawson, and now Orange have (somewhat colour-appropriately) debuted the third in the set, with Vincent Cassel buried beneath the circles.

“A fine art auctioneer mixed up with a gang joins forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur the stakes rise faster than anyone could have anticipated.”

New Teaser Poster for Danny Boyle’s Trance
Danny Boyle makes his eagerly-anticipated return to the big screen this spring with Trance, following the time off he took to direct the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympics last year.

The New Year brought with it a rather brilliant first trailer, giving us a great first full look at the film.

And following it up was the first teaser poster, which launched a new set earlier in the week. Now Yahoo Movies have given us the second in the set, which sees the face of Rosario Dawson buried beneath the circles.

First Teaser Poster for Danny Boyle’s Trance with James McAvoy
Danny Boyle’s Trance is fast becoming one of the most anticipated films of the spring. Coming off the back of directing the Opening Ceremony of last summer’s Olympics, we can’t wait to see what Boyle brings to the table on his return to the big screen.

We got a handful of great first-look images late last year. And the New Year brought with it the awesome first trailer. And now the first teaser poster has debuted over at Total Film, giving us the first in a new set of three.

First Look Images: Danny Boyle’s Trance with James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson & Vincent Cassel
Danny Boyle’s Trance is a film we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. The writer-director boarded the project back in May last year, following on from the Oscar-nominated 127 Hours.

Since then, Boyle has been involved with a staged production of Frankenstein, as well as directing the Opening Ceremony to this summer’s Olympics.

But with both now firmly behind him, we have Trance back in centre position. The release date has recently been set for March 2013 here in the UK, and now USA Today have given us the first images from the film.

Attack the Block Gets Us Distribution
When I got to see Attack the Block at SXSW, people went crazy for it! This isn’t surprising now when you start to look at all the hype for the movie but at the time, the fact people went nuts over it was a big deal. SXSW was the place where people in America were going to see the movie for the first time and I’m sure that there were many people in the audience who were there to gauge reaction.

I captured the moment on video (you can watch it here) when director, Joe Cornish stood on stage alongside Edgar Wright who servers as Executive Producer on Attack the Block as he asked the audience what they thought of it and whether they thought a Us audience would understand the rather English jokes, humour and accents. The entire audience at the Alamo Drafthouse went crazy for it...

UK Quad Poster for ‘Attack the Block’
Attack the Block is the next film from Big Talk Productions – the company behind films such as Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the forthcoming Paul. The film, which was written and directed by Joe Cornish (of Adam & Joe fame) is described as:

…a fast funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters. It turns a London tower block into a fortress under siege, and a weapon wielding teenage thugs into heroes.

/Film have just debuted the rather cool UK quad poster for the film (why does a Us site have a poster for a UK film first?) which stars Nick Frost, Jodie Whittaker, Chris Wilson, Luke Treadaway, Joey Ansah, and Lee Nicholas Harris.

Attack the Block is released in UK cinemas on May 13th.

Exclusive: David Cross Talks The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret
Iconic comedian David Cros tells us all about his upcoming IFC series that finds Todd Margaret destroying London one bad life choice at a time

David Cross has a strange reputation. Some consider him abrasive and too hyper-intelligent for his own good. Even he acknowledges that he can be a supreme dick on the not-so-rare occasion. A man with no patience for the dulling of American, he's really not a bad guy at heart. He's a comedian after all. And very approachable when not being scrutinized about some of his more lofty career choices such as Alvin and the Chipmunks. Sometimes, people have a problem with his attitude simply because he never hides under a fake fa&#231ade. He's just a dude, and that authentic average Joe enthusiasm sometimes throws people for a loop.

Approach David Cross as an admirer and a fan, he's as cordial and polite as any...
