Kate A. McGrath
Fall 2008. Amidst the financial collapse, in New York City, in a rather successful real estate firm, Marianne QuinnÂ’s growing anxiety over her job, her security, her loneliness and her friendsÂ’ different paths seem to come to a head.

At that moment she opens the door to Jack. Jack, her roommate's drug dealer-the seemingly opposite person that Marianne would ever surround herself with -quickly becomes a yin to her yang. Both Jack and Marianne find that they are asking questions about each other and themselves, realizing that thereÂ’s no addiction quite like attraction.

But when opposites "distract", how far can they get without letting their differences divide?

Kate has been pursuing and working in film and theatre in New York City since 2002. She's studied at SUNY Oswego, New York University's School for Continuing and Professional Studies, School for Film and Television, The Barrow Group, Black Nexxus Inc, Pearl Theatre and Bova Actors Studio. Private coaching includes working with Susan Batson, Eric and Susana Morris, Anthony Vincent Bova, LAByrinth Theater's Charles Goforth, NYU's Sam DeFazio, and current Shakespearean coaching with Pearl Theatre's Dominic Cuskern. Kate keeps her musical theatre chops in order with ongoing singing lessons via Pamela Thomas.

Film credits include Julia in Clandestine for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Award from the Houston Broadcast Film Critics Award (David LaRosa, Director); Maryann in DEALeR (Nick DeMatteo, Director); Bird in Requiem (David LaRosa, Director); Connie MacStevenson in Nicky Newark (David LaRosa, Director); Nina in Lock-Load-Love (David LaRosa, Director); Jess in Running Time (JR Timmons, Director), Kate in Superstar Talent (Lenny Marcus, Director); Stage Credits include Life Without Parole at Manhattan Rep, Weep for the Virgins at Irish Repertory Theatre, Guaranteed Never to Lose Suction and Stops (Along the Road) at Theater for a New City, The Blue Room with Black Nexxus in conjunction with Susan Batson, No Way Out with Impetuous Theatre Group, Sustaining at Manhattan Theatre Source, MotherLove at Creative Artists Lab and The Last Resort at Chashama Theatre.

She is also an award-nominated writer who considers herself blessed to have joined Feenix Films in November of 2008. Although her performances began in New York City back in 2002, her writing premiered with Feenix Films in 2012. The film entitled DEALeR was directed by Nick DeMatteo and starred McGrath, DeMatteo, David LaRosa, Janine Laino and premiered at the Kraine Theater in New York's lower east side. McGrath would later be nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 2nd Annual Golden Door International Film Festival, and the film would be win FlipsideTV's Most Watched Movie and Audience Choice Award in their 2012 Film Festival.

Her next work has been the widely successful Clandestine, directed by award-nominated screenwriter and actor David LaRosa, who also serves as Feenix Films' President. Released in 2016, Clandestine is partially inspired by McGrath's father's over 30-year experience as a law enforcement officer on Long Island. Intimately and beautifully focused on local and federal officials as well as informants, the film garnered Official Selections in several festivals, followed by nominations for performances by Nick DeMatteo, Chris Ryan and David LaRosa himself at the 49th Annual WorldFest-Houston Film Festival. Wins at WorldFest included a Best Supporting Actress award from the Houston Broadcast Film Critics Society and a Gold Remi for Crime Drama for the film itself. Clandestine is viewable on Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, Sony PlayStation, Google Play and Dish Network.

McGrath served as co-writer with the lovely Janine Laino, Feenix Films' Treasurer, on The Basement, part of Requiem. Performances include the films mentioned above as well as Nicky Newark (2011), Lock-Load-Love (2010), and various stage performances throughout New York.
