- Birth nameJoseph Martin Weil
- Joe Weil is a native of St. Louis, and he carries his hometown into all of his films. Raised in the suburb of Olivette, Weil began his fascination with film at a young age, and released his first feature-length picture, "Frame By Frame" when he was only sixteen years old. Since that time, he has released three other features, and considers each of them to be a drastic improvement from the previous. His latest, "Welcome To Shirley" was Weil's first foray into professional filmmaking, and will run the festival circuit in 2012. Look for it at a theater near you. Despite his young age, Weil has become a staple of the St. Louis indie film scene, and is now transplanting his efforts to the city of Los Angeles, where he studies Film Production at the University of Southern California.
