Erica was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and grew up in Mandeville on the Northshore of the New Orleans metro area. In 1999, Erica was an award-winning journalist in New York City when she added acting to her repertoire and qualified to become a member of the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG/AFTRA). She took a break from acting in 2006 to be a full-time mother, return to her hometown of Louisiana, and has been back on the scene since 2019 as a Louisiana Actress and Ambassador. Her daughter, Veronica, has also started acting, taking theatre classes in school, and is a member of the International Thespian Society.
