Exclusive: Sarah Dodge has joined Redefine Entertainment as a manager.

She joins the company with over 12 years of experience at Industry Entertainment. Before her career in management, she served as a development executive at Dimension Films. A graduate of Emerson College, Dodge began her career at The William Morris Agency and HBO.

“The Marvels” and “They Cloned Tyrone” star Teyonah Parris is jumping into the world of Mattel’s matchbox cars for Apple Original Films’ upcoming movie, “Matchbox.”

As she took the stage at the 2024 ABFF Honors on Sunday night, “The Color Purple” star pointed to a tattoo on her left bicep that spells out those words exactly: “The Truth.”

“If you are alive and God blessed you with another day to live, it is your job to tell your truth,” Henson told the crowd gathered for the American Black Film Festival’s marquee gala. “Because by you telling your truth, you set yourself free and somebody else free. When we stay quiet, nothing changes. The squeaky wheel gets fixed.”

That ideology is something Henson’s learned to keep close over the years, particularly when it comes to navigating Hollywood.

Cate Blanchett will play the lead, Lilith, in the film adaptation of the Western-themed looter-shooter game, Borderlands. The trailer for the film dropped on Wednesday and fans couldn’t help but notice the similarity to James Gunn’s films. While the cast appears to be promising, there were several behind-the-scene issues with the film which fans doubt will affect the film’s quality. One particular promotion in the trailer for the producer of the film also irked the fans.

Francine Jamison-Tanchuck's costume design for the film was masterful but was snubbed by the Academy. Exclusive: The Black Film Critics Circle (Bfcc) has voted American Fiction Best Film of 2023, Aunjanue Ellie-Taylor Best Actress and Jefferey Wright Best Actor for their work in Origin and American Fiction respectively. And for Best Director Cord Jefferson for American Fiction. The announcement was made today by Mike Sargent, co-president, Bfcc. Votes were cast and tabulated in New York City at the organization’s annual meeting on December 18, 2023.

Recognizing achievements in theatrical motion pictures, the Bfcc awarded prizes in 13 categories including best picture, best director, original and adapted screenplay, best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best animated feature, best independent film, best documentary feature, best foreign film, and best ensemble. Netflix has acquired comedian Bill Burr’s feature directorial debut Old Dads, which we were first to report on, slating the comedy for an October 20th premiere.

Hailing from Miramax, Burr’s All Things Comedy, and All of Us Productions, the film in which Burr also stars centers on his middle-aged father, Jack, and his two best friends (Bobby Cannavale and Bokeem Woodbine), who after selling their company to a millennial, find themselves out of step and behind the times as they hilariously struggle to navigate a changing world of culture, career and fatherhood.

Also starring in the pic written by Burr and Ben Tishler are Katie Aselton, Reign Edwards, Rachael Harris, Miles Robbins and Jackie Tohn. The producers are Burr, Tishler, Bill Block, Monica Levinson and Mike Bertolina.

Netflix's They Cloned Tyrone director Juel Taylor has discussed the movie's surprising epilogue reveal.

Taylor, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, talked about why the story did not center on the titular character Tyrone. "Tyrone is just semantics at a certain point. When we were conceiving the story, we pitched it without a script. So we sold the movie before we wrote the script, and we had a lot of different iterations before we wrote it. And originally, Frog was gonna be Tyrone," he said. "He would've had old-man makeup, and he'd be dressed in a certain way that you don't quite recognize that it's the same actor. And then at a certain point in the movie, you'd realize, 'Oh, the reason this dude knows all this stuff is because he's literally you [Tyrone].'"

Teyonah Parris has stepped into plenty of shoes in her career — from “Dear White People” and “Mad Men” to “If Beale Street Could Talk” and, more recently, as Marvel superhero Monica Rambeau. But no shoes quite compare to the mustard yellow, thigh-high boots and chaps she wore as Yo-Yo in Netflix’s new pulpy conspiracy caper “They Cloned Tyrone.”

“The minute I put on all those elements, I felt Yo-Yo,” Parris told Variety at a press junket for the film in late June.

He asks his curious onlookers, “Why is it that there’s a gunshop on almost every corner in this community?”
