Samsung has today (January 21) announced a new version of the Galaxy S3 Mini with support for Near Field Communications (Nfc). The Nfc-enabled Galaxy S3 Mini allows users to share content, such as photos, videos or music, much more quickly and easily. It comes with Samsung's S Beam technology that enables 10Mb music files to be shared just by tapping another S Beam-enabled device, such as the larger Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2. This means that files can be transferred even when the user does not have WiFi or cellular signal. By combining Nfc with WiFi Direct, S Beam can also send much larger files between phones, such as videos and images. Samsung has announced the UK release date for its Galaxy Note 2. The hybrid tablet will be available from the Samsung Brand Store at Westfield, Stratford City on October 1, before going on general sale shortly after. Samsung has released a free application that enables users to transfer content between iOS and Galaxy devices. The Easy Phone Sync app is available to all customers who purchase a handset from its flagship range, including the latest Galaxy S3. Content including iTunes music libraries, video files and contacts can be shipped across from an iPhone through the service, which Samsung believes will help convince users to part with the Apple devices. Samsung has confirmed that Galaxy S2 owners with a Sim-free handset face a longer wait for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung Electronics has today announced the forthcoming Galaxy Pocket, a budget Android-powered smartphone. The Galaxy Pocket has a 2.8-inch display and upgraded Samsung TouchWiz user interface. It comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, rather than the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Users can access 3Gb of memory in the handset, which can be extended to an additional 32Gb via an Sd card for more apps, MP3s or photos. The phone, which is the successor to the 30 million-selling Samsung Tocco Lite, features enhanced social networking and multi-media capabilities in a "stylish and sleek design". Samsung has announced the Samsung Galaxy S Advance smartphone. The mid-range handset is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and comes with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system pre-loaded.
