Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. Now Is The Time For Peace! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Jessica Kurdali, who has supervised news talent relations for years for NBCUniversal’s news properties, will jump to Versant, the cable-networks operations that parent Comcast is spinning off, where she will oversee talent strategy across all platforms, including news, entertainment and sports.
Kurdali will manage strategic recruitment and on-air development. She will also work across Versant’s businesses to identify new voices, ensure talent can be seen across the company’s various media assets and build a bench of up and coming personalities.
She most recently served as senior vice president of talent and strategy for NBC News and MSNBC. She started at NBCU as an intern in 2002.
Her exit from NBC means NBC News will be without a senior talent executive for an interim period. ABC News also has not filled a similar position within its ranks.

The U.S. secretary of defense has threatened to send active-duty Marines into the streets of Los Angeles to confront protesters opposing the administration’s detention and deportation of immigrants. At least three prominent Republicans don’t seem concerned about potential overreach.
“The [Department of Defense] is mobilizing the National Guard Immediately to support federal law enforcement in Los Angeles. And, if violence continues, active duty Marines at Camp Pendleton will also be mobilized — they are on high alert,” Hegseth wrote late Saturday on X, formerly Twitter, on his personal account.

Olivia Metzger, the independent agent who represents Craig Melvin and Kristen Welker, among others, is no longer running solo.
After leaving CAA in 2017 and building her own agency to represent news anchors and producers, Metzger is selling her OManagement to 3 Arts Entertainment, the production house that has been involved in series ranging from “King of the Hill” to “Hacks,” and has built alliances with Mike Judge and Tina Fey, among others.
Metzger, who also represents Steve Kornacki, Harris Faulkner and Ari Melber, will join as a partner and co-head of 3 Arts’ New York office. Her associate Chelsea Sells will join as well.

President Donald Trump revealed a proposal to build – and personally fund – a grand ballroom in the White House.

“Meet the Press” on Sunday will take a break from its usual focus on the latest in political news to air a special edition of the program that examines mental health and, in particular, the growing number of young people who say they are suffering from loneliness.
Moderator Kristen Welker, in her opening comments at the top of the show that were first seen by TheWrap, will lay out the disheartening situation; studies show two-thirds of Gen Z’ers are dealing with loneliness while youth suicide rates have increased dramatically since the start of the 21st century.
“After no significant change between 2001 and 2007, the suicide rate among young people ages 10-24 increased 62% from 2007 through 2021, from 6.8 deaths to 11.0 per 100,000,” the CDC found in 2023.
Welker will discuss the issue with several guests — including Dr. Vivek Murthy, the former U.S. Surgeon General who served in the position twice, between 2014-2017 and again from 2021 to earlier this year.

Late-night TV always seems to find something hypocritical coming from President Donald Trump. But one recent example is sticking with Jon Stewart to the point where the Daily Show host just can't let it go.
Stewart is fixated on President Trump's interview with Kristen Welker on Meet the Press in which the president repeated his line that Americans have too much. Trump echoed his sentiment that perhaps American children should have two dolls instead of 30, as his tariff plans threaten to raise prices on a number of consumer goods.
“[Trump] continues to float this idea that Americans just have too much—that in this new world order that he is creating, that it is important for children to learn gratitude and simplicity,” Stewart said on his Weekly Show podcast.
The problem with that is Trump doesn't practice what he preaches, says Stewart. The late-night TV host called out Trump's lack...

Stephen Colbert is backing Donald Trump on his claim that Melania has not been seen around the White House because she’s a “very private person.” Last Sunday, Trump gave “Meet the Press” journalist Kristen Welker that explanation when asked about his wife’s absence.
“Yeah, she’s a very private person who has film crews following her around for the $40 million documentary about her life,” Colbert said on Thursday night’s episode of “The Late Show.”
Melania Trump is currently filming a documentary for Amazon Prime Video that promises to be a behind-the-scenes look at her life that’s directed by Brett Ratner. The director was “canceled” in 2017 after several women came forward accusing him of rape, sexual assault and harassment. Warner Bros. severed ties with Ratner following those accusations.

On this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart went after Donald Trump for comments suggesting that children may have to settle for fewer toys in his economy.
Stewart opened his monologue by recounting Trump’s Sunday interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker and feigning curiosity about how the president will thread the “rhetorical needle” of “taking credit for the remaining good parts of the economy, while subtly assigning blame to Joe Biden for some of the bad, on fire parts.”

Donald Trump played the strongman in a Saturday interview. The president said he is growing increasingly frustrated with Russia and its refusal to sign a Ukraine ceasefire agreement as well as with Iran for not reaching a nuclear deal with the U.S.
Trump said he is “very angry” and “pissed off” at President Vladimir Putin — so much so he is considering imposing tariffs if Putin does not agree to a deal that would end the war. This could represent a shift in the president’s relationship with Putin which...

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was mocked on social media for wearing a cowboy hat as she appeared on TV to support President Donald Trump‘s tariff plan for Mexico, Canada and China.
“Today, I have implemented a 25% Tariff on Imports from Mexico and Canada (10% on Canadian Energy), and a 10% additional Tariff on China,” Trump stated on Truth Social on Feb. 1. “This was done through the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (Eepa) because of the major threat of illegal aliens and deadly drugs killing our Citizens, including fentanyl.”
“We need to protect Americans, and it is my duty as President to ensure the safety of all,” he added. “I made a promise on my Campaign to stop the flood of illegal aliens and drugs from pouring across our Borders, and Americans overwhelmingly voted in favor of it.”

President Donald Trump‘s new Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, grabbed viewers’ attention on Sunday morning’s (February 2) episode of NBC’s Meet the Press when she appeared glammed up and sporting a cowboy hat. Speaking with host Kristen Welker on the show, Noem attempted to answer questions about the recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) targeted immigration raids, including Trump’s proposal to detain migrants at Guantanamo Bay. However, many viewers were less interested in Noem’s evasive answers and more taken by her outfit choice, which included a large cowboy hat and khaki button-up top. This came after a week of head-turning outfits that earned Noem the nickname “Cosplay Kristi.” Last week, Noem, who leads the federal department tasked with ensuring public safety in the U.S., joined Ice agents during the deportation raids, where she was seen in full makeup, curled hair, a bulletproof vest, and an Ice-branded baseball cap.

Chuck Todd, the former moderator of Meet the Press and a staple of NBC News’ political reportage for nearly two decades, is leaving the network.
Todd told his NBC colleagues about his decision Friday morning. It will also be his last day.
He added that he will be taking his “ChuckToddcast” with him, and that it will have a “new home” soon. He said on the podcast Friday that his exit from NBC happened “a little earlier than originally planned.”
But he also indicated that he plans to launch a new venture, one that may connect national news to local news.
“At my core, I’m an entrepreneur — I spent my first 15 years professionally working for the company that started the political newsletter craze that dominates today,” Todd said, referencing his time at National Journal, where he created the Hotline newsletter, a predecessor to the likes of Politico Playbook and Punchbowl News.

NBC News chief political analyst Chuck Todd has reportedly been “quietly” meeting with other news outlets and telling them he plans to leave his current network in 2025 amid frustrations with his current role. According to Semafor, the former Meet the Press host has been talking to “top editors and leaders from other media organizations” and discussing “potential roles outside the network both in broadcast and digital media” as he intends to depart NBC News when his contract is up later this year. This comes after Todd was replaced by Kristen Welker as host of Meet the Press in 2023 after serving nine years in the role. At the time, NBC News stated the change would lead to bigger projects for Todd. However, Semafor notes that Todd has been a “far less visible presence” across NBC News and MSNBC since he left Meet the Press. Todd’s relationship with NBC has become contentious over the past year.

Sen. Lindsey Graham doesn’t seem eager to send his congressional colleagues to jail. The Republican senator publicly disagreed with President-elect Donald Trump’s statement that the members of the Jan. 6 committee who investigated him for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election and attack the Capitol should be imprisoned.
“President-elect Trump told me he thinks the members of the January 6th Committee should go to jail. Do you agree with that statement?” moderator Kristen Welker asked Graham on Sunday’s episode of Meet the Press on NBC.

Leave it to Seth Meyers to break the late night fourth wall. During a Closer Look focused on how President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff plan will make life more expensive for the average American, Meyers interrupted himself.
It all started with Trump’s recent interview with “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker.
