SkyMed's prognosis is good. The Canadian medical drama has been cleared for liftoff for another season. The series' third season premiered this spring on Paramount+, and will return for a fourth season next year. The series, which is filmed on location in northern Manitoba, centers around a group of nurses and pilots working for an air ambulance service, performing death-defying, life-saving procedures 20,000 feet in the air. The show frequently makes use of practical effects with actual aircraft, rather than using green-screen technology.
SkyMed premiered in 2022 on CBC, Canada's national broadcasting service. It was created by Julie Puckrin (Killjoys), who was inspired by her own sister, a nurse, and brother-in-law, a pilot; they met while working for an air ambulance service themselves. The show has notably featured both queer and Indigenous storylines to properly reflect the diversity of Canada's north. The fourth season will be eight episodes long, one episode shorter...
