Annjee Diggs was born Angela Michelle Blake in Takoma Park, Maryland to
David and Brenda Blake. After a year, her family moved to her mother's
hometown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where her parents later divorced.
At the age of 11, her family moved again to Topeka, Kansas where she
grew up and attended high school. In high school, Diggs was an
all-around athlete participating in cheerleading, dance team,
volleyball, basketball, track and on record as Topeka High School's
first female wrestler. Ever the entertainer, Diggs was a member of
three choral ensembles and starred in two high school theatrical
productions. She played the role of Maretha in August Wilson's "The
Piano Lesson," and a member of the production "Race" which featured a
collection of monologues from people with an array of ethnic
backgrounds.
After high school, Annjee attended college at Virginia State University on a presidential academic scholarship as well as an athletic scholarship for cross country and track. She was also a member of the highly revered cheerleading squad affectionately known as the "Woo Woos." Annjee graduated with a degree in marketing.
It was at Virginia State where Annjee met her husband, Bobby, who encouraged her to go on her first film audition. She was cast in that film and has pursued her acting career ever since.
