Tanmay Dhanania

Tanmay Dhanania was born in Calcutta. He studied Nuclear Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley and then trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He played Naseem Ali Khan in Indian Summers (2015) and Ajay in Brahman Naman (2016) which premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, 2016 and went on to be India's first Netflix Original. He played Prince Jeejeebuoy in The Durrells of Corfu and Phanishwar in Garbage, which premiered at the 68th Berlinale and is now on Netflix. Tanmay is in Cat Sticks which won the jury award at Slamdance 2019 and is now on Mubi. He was the lead actor on Nazarband(Captive) which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2020 and for which he got nominated for the Best Actor award at the New York Indian Film Festival 2021. He is also the lead actor on The Rapist by Aparna Sen which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2021 where it won the Kim Jiseok Award. His Malayalam feature film debut, Nishiddho (Forbidden) won the KR Mohanan Award at the International Film Festival of Kerala and garnered Tanmay his second Best Actor nomination. He has also appeared in web series such as Made in Heaven on Amazon Prime, Zero Kms and Mafia on Zee5, and most recently, SCOOP by Hansal Mehta on Netflix. Tanmay acted in a film called the Shameless by Konstantin Bojanov that premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival 2024.
