Universal’s CinemaCon: Studio Boss Donna Langley Says Theatrical “Cornerstone” To Biz; Shows Off ‘Nope’, ‘Halloween Ends’, ‘Easter Sunday’ & More
Image
Universal continued its motif from CinemaCon 2021 on Wednesday, spotlighting the work of movie theater workers during the studio’s presentation, pairing them with their favorite stars. It’s a classy way of paying homage to those in exhibition particularly after the industry was brought to its knees in 2020 to early 2021 due to Covid.

Universal Motion Picture Entertainment Group boss Donna Langley was the first onstage, quipping, “I’m sure there’s a drinking game tied to when a studio executive gets on stage and says ‘the magic of movies.’ ”

“My confidence in theatrical has never wavered,” said Langley.

As Ryan told us when the film took the Project of the Month prize for September, “In a sense, ‘Twentyfiveish’ feels like a new beginning for us as we embark on a new journey after seven years on the same show together,...

From the Press Release

Post-production for the supernatural thriller Gold Rush is near completion. Directed by Debbie Bledsoe, terror strikes in the heart of Gold Rush Country, Northern California, when a team of modern-day paranormal experts investigate an evil presence at a collector’s estate filled with antiques from a gold mining ghost town.

The location of the film is, according to paranormal experts, authentically haunted. It’s a private property with preserved artifacts from the Gold Rush era.

"There’s no need to pretend it’s eerie here with all the dangerous mining tools: axes, picks, drills, and creepy sledgehammers. There’s real history here," said director Debbie Bledsoe. "The poker table has bullet holes.
