Director Fede lvarez confirmed that the script for Alien: Romulus was developed with Ridley Scott's feedback. Scott was also the one who insisted on including that controversial Alien callback.

Alien: Romulus adopted the tone and premise of the 1979 original, from the aesthetic to the pacing to the shared plot lines. Still, fans were surprised to see a familiar character from Alien appearing in the new installment; toward the second act of Alien: Romulus, the protagonists find a broken android identical to Ash, the synthetic crew member of the Nostromo. Many considered the twist an overstretch in the storyline, since Ash (played by Ian Holm in Alien) was likely destroyed with Ripley's ship after it exploded. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Fede lvarez confirmed it was Ridley Scott who wanted that android to look like Ash.

The Alien franchise continues with the recent release of the latest installment of the movie series, Alien: Romulus. Acknowledging the roots of the franchise, he director of the film, Fede lvarez, kept original Alien helmer Ridley Scott informed every step of the way.

Per Collider, lvarez noted how every milestone reached with the development of Alien: Romulus came with the director updating Scott. That continued throughout the script writing process through editing until a cut of the film was available for Scott to screen. lvarez was so excited to hear what Scott thought about Romulus that he made a point of having a meeting directly after the screening. Fortunately for lvarez, Scott was impressed, sharing the opinion that Romulus had the potential to become a big hit in theaters.

Alien: Romulus pulled a fast one on audiences when it unleashed an abomination towards the ending. Unsurprised by the fan backlash, director Fede lvarez revealed even the studios initially pushed back on the concept.

As an "interquel" to Alien and Aliens, Alien: Romulus adopted the story beats of the best films in the series. Fede lvarez's installment had callbacks to every Alien film while expanding the lore of the franchise. Audiences expected Alien: Romulus would be swarming with Xenomorphs as teased in the trailers, but few imagined the wild-card creature revealed at the end. Dubbed "the Offspring," the abomination that Rain (played by Cailee Spaeny) fought at the end was a new form of human-Xenomorph hybrid. Some Alien fans thought the film went too far with the Alien: Resurrection reference; lvarez told The Hollywood Reporter that the studios also opposed his film's ending.

Fede lvarez has been keeping an eye on the fan discussions surrounding Alien: Romulus upon its release. Directed and co-written by lvarez, the filmmaker couldn't help but feel amused by his Reddit group ban after jumping in on a fan conversation.

In Alien: Romulus, there's a bit of ambiguity concerning who's the father of Kay's (Isabela Merced) baby. Because Kay only refers to the unnamed father as a "jerk," it's not very clear who the father is, but fans have their ideas. On the Alien subreddit, one fan theorized that the father is Spike Fearn's Bjorn, based on a tender moment he shows towards Kay shortly before his death. As the Redditor explained, "I watched the movie yesterday in IMAX and loved it! Incredible experience, incredible movie. Right before Bjorn's death, he and Kay share a moment where they touch each other in a very intimate way.

Nicholas Barasch is ready for all the 1950s drama Riverdale has up its sleeve.

As the new guy on Riverdale, Barasch is taking on the mysterious role of Julian Blossom, now in human form. We got our first taste of meeting Cheryl's equally confidant and entitled brother on Riverdale Season 7 Episode 1.

And from those first hints, we're excited about the drama brewing in the Archie, Veronica, and Julian love triangle. Julian doesn't seem like someone who will give up too quickly.

We got the chance to chat with Barasch about getting the role of Julian Blossom and his time on set. It was a really fun chat, and you could feel his excitement talking about everything from Julian's potential dark side and Barasch meeting the cast.

So let's get started talking about Julian Blossom. Can you explain your character to people unaware of this new twin?...

Riverdale star Camila Mendes mocks the show's totally bonkers plots in a playful new TikTok. As the CW series prepares to say goodbye, Riverdale season 7 sees Archie, Veronica, Betty, and Jughead in the year 1955 after a dangerous battle and a deadly comet sent the group tumbling back in time and, specifically, back to high school. Jughead is the only one who remembers their past lives, but he has a hard time convincing anyone since, in keeping with the teen drama's approach, it does sound pretty crazy.

Mendes, who plays Veronica, acknowledged how bizarre Riverdale has become in a new TikTok. Using a quote from Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Mendes lip-synched the following: “I think there's days where I feel like I know it all, and then I wake up the next morning and I'm like, 'Wait, none of that made sense. Then later I'll feel like, 'Oh, wait, it's all clicking.

President Joe Biden will not be among the throng of dignitaries and world leaders descending upon London for King Charles III‘s coronation next month.

According to The UK Telegraph, Biden has opted to skip the May 6 ceremony, citing prior commitments. The outlet reported, citing a source, that there “may still be some efforts underway to see if Biden can be persuaded to come to the Coronation.” Another source told The Telegraph that declining the invite was “not locked and loaded.”

What’s more, the outlet reported that those who received “save the date” cards were asked to submit their answer by Monday. It’s worth noting that no U.S. president has ever attended the coronation of a new monarch. That being said, Biden will reportedly send a representative to the ceremony, and among the name’s being mentioned include First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

King Charles’s upcoming Coronation will be swimming with world leaders and dignitaries, but it has emerged that the U.S. president will not be among them.

British press reports this weekend that Joe Biden will not be attending the ceremony on May 6 in London, citing previous commitments.

No U.S. president in history has attended the coronation of the British monarch. However, the Telegraph reports that Biden plans to send a representative for the occasion, either his wife Jill Biden or vice president Kamala Harris.

The ceremony has been shrunk at the King’s request – whereas his mother received more than 8000 guests at her coronation in 1953, only 2000 will be invited to attend his ceremony in person.

Other expected heads of state include those of France, Spain, Ireland, Japan and Monaco.

While Riverdale season 7 still has a long way to go, one scene in the season premiere at least implied that the show’s creators are aware that the series has jumped the shark. Riverdale walked a thin tightrope for the show’s first few seasons. Even though all of the teenage lead characters were played by actors in their 20s and most of the situations that they found themselves in were absurd scenarios, Riverdale mostly played its over-the-top storylines straight. This led to increasingly far-fetched, larger-than-life moments of unalloyed melodrama, but eventually, cracks began to show in Riverdale’s formula.

By Riverdale season 3, Archie Andrews was introducing prisoners to “the epic highs and lows of high school football,” Jughead was investigating a magic board game and its cult of devotees, and Bettie feared that there was a second secret serial killer in her nuclear family.
