The superstar played a blind man whose life turns upside down after his wife (Yami Gautam) commits suicide after being brutally raped by a gangster’s brother. The film received an excellent word of mouth wherein fans were in awe of Hrithik’s performance and his chemistry with Yami Gautam. The film went on to cross its budget of 50 crores in the first weekend itself and minted 67.46 crores. The film only saw an upward graph post the same.

According to industry buzz, a crucial 60-day Dubai episode has not yet been shot. The team was supposed to fly down to Dubai to film an action block at the Burj Kalifa Towers and then move on to Abu Dhabi and Romania, where a major chunk of the film was to be canned. But things did not work out as per plans and the overseas schedule has been postponed indefinitely. It is also reported that director Sujeeth loves to reshoot until he is satisfied. This could also be the reason for the delay in the release of the movie. The first-half of Sunny Deol’s admirable but finally undone sequel to the 1990 hit Ghayal is so riveting that one is hoodwinked into believing that we are on to something remarkably well-packaged over here.

Wrong! The second-half comes on like a tornado to wipe out all the good that is achieved earlier. And initially there is plenty that is done with edge-of-the-seat heart-in-the-mouth adeptness as we are introduced to our hero 14 years after he was incarcerated for killing Balwant Rai, played by Amrish Puri in the 1990 hit Ghayal.

New era. New villain. Same hero. This time Ajay Mehra,older and far more distraught than he was 14 years ago (he is psychiatric medication) takes on a corporate tycoon named Raj Bansal, played by Narendra Jha who was so compelling as Tabu’s missing husband in Haider. Here, the rhythm required from Jha is different and he tries hard to find his bearings.

The ninth Rome Film Festival (Oct 16-25) has revealed a diverse line-up including the Italian premieres for potential awards contenders including David Fincher’s Gone Girl. the world premiere of Takashi Miike’s As the Gods Will and Burhan Qurbani’s We are Young, We are Strong and European premiere of Oren Moverman’s Time Out of Mind, Toronto hit Still Alice and Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet.

This year for the first time the award-winners in each section of the programme will be decided by the audience on the basis of votes cast after the screenings.

Each section has changed name and focus for 2014 and are all competitive, resulting in the festival’s structure being “slimmer’.

Italian comedies Soap Opera and Andiamo a Quel Paese bookend the line-up.

Kuchh Kariye is not my debut film as an actress. I had made my debut with Ek Dastak in the lead with Vasundhara Das and Narendra Jha three years ago but felt that I was yet another actress.
