2025 is in full swing, and the end of a month brings both a new one and yet another shakeup in the Netflix library. As the service that arguably paved the way for the streaming wars that have defined modern pop culture, Netflix made a name for itself by offering something for seemingly everybody.

Apple TV+ today announced summer premiere dates for a full slate of all-new original series, specials, shorts and returning fan favorites for kids and families.

As part of its family programming slate, Apple will also be rolling out new content and shorts from the legendary “Peanuts” franchise over the summer. New episodes of “The Snoopy Show,” a short-form animated series focusing on the adventures of Charlie Brown’s iconic dog, will debut Aug. 5, and a special starring “Peanuts” character Lucy Van Pelt, “Lucy’s School,” debuts Aug. 12. Aug. 5 will also see the addition of classic “Peanuts” specials, originally produced by Mendelson/Melendez Productions for network television, to the platform, including: “A Charlie Brown Celebration,” “He’s A Bully, Charlie Brown,” “He’s Your Dog, Charlie Brown,” “It Was A Short Summer, Charlie Brown,” “It’s Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown,” “There’s No Time For Love, Charlie Brown,” “Why, Charlie Brown,...

Apple TV+ will launch a slate of all-new original kids and family series, specials and shorts, including Peanuts special “Lucy’s School,” the streamer announced Friday.

In “Lucy’s School,” Lucy Van Pelt starts her own school. Additionally, Apple TV+ is adding new episodes of “The Snoopy Show,” and several classic Peanuts titles from Mendelson/Melendez Productions, including “You’re The Greatest, Charlie Brown,” “You’re In Love, Charlie Brown” and “He’s Your Dog, Charlie Brown,” which all debut on August 5.

The summer lineup kicks off on July 8 with animated series “Duck & Goose,” based on the best-selling books by Tad Hills.

New live-action shows include “Best Foot Forward,” based on the real-life story of Paralympic athlete and “Just Don’t Fall” author Josh Sundquist, which launches July 22. “Amber Brown,” based on the book series by Paula Danziger and from writer and director Bonnie Hunt, drops July 29. Beloved doll and book line American Girl is getting two new live-action specials. Mattel, Inc. announced on Wednesday that it is partnering with HBO Max and Cartoon Network on a pair of American Girl specials that will debut in 2022 and 2023.

The first special will focus on American Girl’s 2022 Girl of the Year, Corinne Tan, and is set to premiere this December on Cartoon Network followed by a next-day streaming debut on HBO Max. A second special will premiere in 2023.

First up, the 60-minute special “American Girl: Corrine Tan” (working title) “follows 13-year-old ski enthusiast Corinne Tan as she navigates her parents’ recent divorce while her 10-year-old sister, Gwynn, dad, mom, and stepdad Arne have adjusted to their new roles in this blended family. Exclusive: Apple TV+ has given a formal 10-episode series order to Surfside Girls, a live-action kids and family series based on the best-selling Top Shelf Productions (Idw Publishing) graphic novel series by author Kim Dwinell. Miya Cech (Rim of the World) and FBI: Most Wanted‘s YaYa Gosselin headline the project, from WGA Award winner May Chan (Avatar: the Last Airbender), Endeavor Content and Idw Entertainment.

Gosselin has been a series regular on CBS’ FBI: Most Wanted since Season 2 having recurred on the show the first season. As she takes on the lead series regular role in Surfside Girls, she will transition back to guest starring/recurring status on FBI: Most Wanted where she will continue in her role as Tali Lacroix.

Surfside Girls is an adventure series about two best friends, Jade (Cech) and Sam (Gosselin), who are psyched to spend their summer riding the waves and catching the rays.

The Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) and the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) have announced nominations for this year’s television categories, including Drama Series, Comedy Series, and Long Form Original. Reigning Emmy winners “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Veep” are nominated in their respective categories, as is HBO’s acclaimed “Big Little Lies” limited series.

Get ready to watch, rate and review Amazon’s just-released pilots – a slate of 13 original comedy, drama, docuseries and kids offerings now available on Amazon Instant Video.

The pilots come from a talented creative roster that includes both newcomers discovered through Amazon Studios as well as highly-acclaimed veterans such as Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files), Carlton Cuse (Lost), Randall Wallace (Braveheart), Shawn Ryan (The Shield), Brad Silberling (Jane the Virgin, Lemony Snickets…), Mark Waters (Mean Girls), Academy and Emmy Award winning director Alex Gibney (The Armstrong Lie), Angela Santomero (Blue’s Clues), and Carol Greenwald (Arthur).

Get ready for our first pilot season of 2015, launching January 15th, when seven new primetime and six new kids pilots will debut on Amazon Instant Video. As with previous pilot seasons, viewers in the Us, UK and Germany will be invited to watch, rate and review them all over the course of four weeks, ultimately helping to decide which of them get picked up to full series.

The new pilots come from both highly-acclaimed and newly-discovered creators, and a legion of talented actors, directors and producers signed on to bring the pilots to life. Here’s a brief summary of each:

Primetime Pilots

The Man in the High Castle – Based on Philip K. Dick’s award-winning novel, and executive produced by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), The Man in the High Castle explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States.

A preschool whodunit. A hilarious friendship between dirty trucks. An epic quest to defeat darkness. An ousted crowd who navigates middle school cafeteria dynamics. And a trio who discover the power of magic.

These are the five kids’ stories Amazon Studios has ordered to pilot, officially announced today. Early next year, all five will showcase their first episodes for viewer feedback on Amazon Instant Video.

During the last kids’ pilot season, one of the highest-rated pilots was Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, which was created by pre-school teacher David Anaxagoras, a first-time writer who was discovered through Amazon Studios’ open-door submission process. In November, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street will launch as a full series on Amazon Prime.
