Renée Bang Allen is a professional actress, singer, musician and playwright based in NYC. She is best known for making her Broadway debut during the intermission of Stephen Sondheim's, Company (2007 TonyAward® Winner - Best Revival - where she covered the roles of "Joanne" and "Sarah") playing the saxophone, flute & triangle in the groundbreaking revival directed by John Doyle. After graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, she made her theatrical debut in the cast of the first international tour of Grand Hotel - The Musical, directed by 9-time Tony Award® winner Tommy Tune. Off Broadway productions include: Secrets of A Soccer Mom, directed by 2- time Tony Award® winner Judith Ivey, Lies My Father Told Me, directed by Bryna Wasserman and several one-act productions at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, including Horton Foote's The Midnight Caller and Getting Frankie Married. Regionally she appeared in a highly acclaimed production of Spring Awakening at ReVision Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ and several productions at The Weston Playhouse in VT. In film Renée was featured as "Bootsey" in the indie hit, Sex Farce, (Evan Greenberg, Dir.) and also starred as "Bernadette" in Bernadette, etc. (David Perlman, Dir.) On television she enjoyed a co-starring role in Blue Bloods (CBS) and guest starred in the original web series, Small Miracles, starring Judd Hirsch and Kathryn Kates. Her musical, "54" - the musical, (which is based on infamous events and characters from the notorious discotheque, Studio 54) is in development for Broadway. She is creator, founder and director of (the collective) an industry workshop for performing artists in the Asbury Park, NJ area and is a member of the Jersey Shore Chapter of The SurfRider Foundation. She studied acting with Fred Kareman, musical performance with Joanna Gleason and playwriting with Curt Dempster, director and founder of the Ensemble Studio Theatre in NYC.
