The macabre mysteries within a true-crime subscription game become all too real for a group of teenage friends in the new comic book series Jill and the Killers. Written by Olivia Cuartero-Briggs and featuring artwork by Roberta Ingranata, the first issue of Jill and the Killers is now available from Oni Press, and we caught up with Olivia in a new Q&a feature to discuss society's obsession with true crime, the importance of building believable characters, and teaming up with artist Roberta Ingranata to bring this story to life!

Thank you for taking the time to answer questions for us, Olivia, and congratulations on your new comic book series Jill and the Killers! How and when did you initially get the idea for this series?...

Netflix is resurrecting Fate: The Winx Saga after its cancelation with a graphic novel sequel, giving the show's cult following a chance to find out what is in store for the series' beloved characters. The upcoming graphic novel, titled Fate: The Winx Saga Vol. 1 Dark Destiny, will continue the story from where Season 2 left off. Writer Olivia Cuartero-Briggs promises a "female-centric and character-driven narrative", ensuring the beloved fictional universe is in capable hands. Stay turned for more details to come, before the graphic novel arrives in 2024.

Netflix is bringing back Fate: The Winx Saga for a sequel, this time in graphic novel form. The teen drama was originally released on Netflix between 2021 and 2022, before being canceled after two seasons. There remains enough of a cult following surrounding the Winx Club franchise that there remains fan outcry, hoping for the show to return in some capacity – and now that wish has been granted.

Jill and the Killers #1 is a thrilling blend of true crime and gaming, featuring teenage protagonist Jill Estrada and her friends. The series explores Jill's struggle with her mother's disappearance and her participation in the true crime subscription game, "Box Killers." The story embraces LGBTQ+ representation, with Jill's unrequited crush on her best friend, without making it the central focus of her character.

Oni Press made the most of New York Comic-Con 2023, announcing a slate of exciting new ongoing titles – including Jill and the Killers, from writer Olivia Cuartero-Briggs and artist Roberta Ingranata, which launches with a double-sized, 48-page first issue in January. Independent comic publisher AfterShock Media’s Rive Gauche has tapped two new executives as it bolsters its team, naming David Siguarani EVP of film and television and Max Zupanovic director of domestic development.

Siguarani’s current TV credits as EP include Bonding for Netflix, AMC Network’s The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula and Channel 4’s Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared. He was was previously SVP at Blackpills out of Europe, and VP of Development overseeing Turner’s Deluxe Studio.

Zupanovic has held development roles at ICM Partners, Paramount Pictures, and EOne working with IP including Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins and reboots of Transformers, Dungeons & Dragons Power Rangers, Oujia and Clue.

That's right, James Cameron is going Lord of the Rings on us. He plans on filming Avatar 2 and 3 simultaneously, and release them a year apart. While that's good news for Avatar fans, there's no word on when he plans to begin production. And I have to say, I'm impressed. Nearly a year after release and the movie is still releasing footage and even more DVD releases.
