‘Kidnapped’ DVD Review (aka Secuestrados)
Stars: Fernando Cayo, Manuela Vellés, Ana Wagener, Guillermo Barrientos, Dritan Biba, Martijn Kuiper, Xoel Yáñez, Luis Iglesia | Written by Miguel Ángel Vivas, Javier García | Directed by Miguel Ángel Vivas

This Spanish film is the figurative definition of ‘thriller’ (I get told off by my housemate for misuse of literality). Jaime (Fernando Cayo) has just moved to an a beautiful new house with his wife, Marta (Ana Wagener), and daughter, Isa (Manuela Vellés) and already arguments are starting as Isa wants to skip the families first meal together in her new home to meet her boyfriend. None of that matters, however, as the house is broken into that night be three masked men. The leader takes down the card details of each of them and takes Jaime on a drive to get money out while Marta and Isa are left with the other two; one of them a bit crazy and the other very skittish.

New 'Kidnapped' Clip a Bang to the Head
Now in limited theaters and on VOD from IFC Films is Miguel Angel Vivas' (interview) awesome Spanish-language home invasion horror flick Kidnapped. Trying to keep the hype flowing, Apple scored the below exclusive clip that's a bit soft in comparison to the violence in the flick. One of the best genre films of the year stars Guillermo Barrientos, Dritan Biba and Fernando Cayo as "Jaime, Marta and their daughter Isa who have just moved into a luxurious new house. Marta begins to prepare the dinner and puts a bottle of champagne on ice to celebrate the move. As night falls, three hooded men violently force their way into the house. Kidnapped (2010)
Directed By: Miguel Angel Vivas

Starring: Guillermo Barrientos, Dritan Biba, Fernando Cayo, Manuela Velles

Home invasion movies are usually ones that I find to be a bit on the taxing side of the horror world. These are movies filled with a different kind of horror, a horror that is real and brutal as opposed to a horror that is supernatural, gross and involves Jigsaw. I often find that I need to bulk myself up a bit before watching a film, perhaps a few push ups, maybe a protein shake and a couple reps with the free weights, who knows. I feel the need to do this because the film takes a lot out of you, it's not necessarily enjoyable to watch and it really fucks you up come to think of it. When I finish watching them, I'm usually filled with an overwhelming desire to curl up in a ball and die.

Kidnapped Movie Review
Manuela Vellés
Title: Kidnapped Directed By: Miguel Ángel Vivas Starring: Fernando Cayo, Ana Wagener, Manuela Vellés, Xoel Yáñez, Guillermo Barrientos, Dritan Biba, Martijn Kuiper Yes, we want our horror films to be scary, but being too scary is a major genre pitfall. Often this stems from a film being exploitative and dousing us in incredibly gory or disturbing visuals, but sometimes we get the beautiful juxtaposition of a film being so well done that it feels too real. What can be more genuinely horrifying than that? Jaime, Marta (Fernando Cayo and Ana Wagener) and their daughter, Isa (Manuela Vellés), move into a gorgeous new home. Marta wants to have a family dinner...
