The Flash’s Surprise New DC Heroes Just Set Up a Potential Future for the Arrowverse
Image
This post contains spoilers for The Flash series finale.

The Flash has always been about hope, even when things look darkest. And for fans of the Arrowverse, it’s hard to imagine anything darker than the series finale. Not only is the official Arrowverse coming to a close with the end of The Flash, but even other superhero shows on the CW face an uncertain future, with Superman & Lois and Gotham Knights facing potential cancelation. And yet, during the final episode of The Flash, hope arrived in the form of a lightning bolt.

As expected, the final episode built to a showdown between Flash Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Cobalt Blue (Rick Cosnett). But the really exciting part of the show came in its final seconds, when Barry told a story to his and Iris’s (Candice Patton) newborn daughter Nora, herself destined to become super-speedster Xs (Jessica Parker Kennedy...

The Flash Finale Introduces Three New Speedsters to the Arrowverse
Image
The following contains major spoilers for The Flash Season 9, Episode 13.

The CW's The Flash finale leaves three new Speedsters behind to take up Barry Allen's legacy.

As reported by ScreenRant, The Flash Season 9's final episode, "A New World, Part Four," saw Grant Gustin's Barry Allen, better known as the series' titular hero, choose three successors to wield his powers going forward. Among these are Hana Destiny Huggins, who made her debut in the episode as Jess Chambers, aka Kid Quick, who in the comics is the Earth-11 sidekick of Jesse Quick.

Alongside Huggins' Chambers was Trevor Carroll's debut as Max Mercury, a 1940's Speedster originally known as Quicksilver; and Avery Ho, also known as the Flash of China in the comics, as portrayed by Piper Curda. Curda's Ho is the only one of the three...

The Arrowverse Sets Up 3 Replacements For Grant Gustin's Flash - So What's Next?
Image
Warning: Spoilers for The Flash season 9, episode 13

The Flash series finale set up three characters to eventually replace Barry Allen as the Scarlet Speedster. The Flash season 9, episode 13, titled “A New World, Part Four,” saw Barry pick three people to wield the powers of the Flash. In Barry’s words, their job will be to help create a “better” world.

Based on what was known of the future Grant Gustin's Barry Allen would have after the series, there wasn’t much room for surprises in the series finale. Because of the involvement of his future children, it’s been understood for a while that Barry Allen will be the Flash until at least 2049 in the Arrowverse timeline. For that reason, it was expected from the very beginning that no matter what challenge Cobalt Blue would throw at him, Barry would defeat the villain and carry on as the Team Flash leader.

Outlander (2014)
‘Outlander’ Finale Recap: Jamie, Roger and Ian Each Try to be a ‘Man of Worth’
Outlander (2014)
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Man of Worth,” the Season 4 finale of “Outlander.”

With almost 900 pages in “Drums of Autumn” and only 13 episodes in which to adapt them, the “Outlander” writers had a lot of material to get through in Season 4 — and a lot to get through in the finale alone. The main action focused on Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and young Ian (John Bell) trying to rescue Roger (Richard Rankin) from the Mohawk. When they reach the Mohawk village, things seemed to be going well until the tribe saw Claire’s necklace. She had been wearing the giant uncut opal that she found with Otter Tooth’s (Trevor Carroll) skull way back when she got lost in that lightning storm. The Mohawk recognized it because Otter Tooth was one of their tribesmen, and they demanded that Claire and her party leave at once.

Outlander (2014)
Why Outlander's Mysterious New Character Has the Power to Change Everything in Season 4
Outlander (2014)
Warning: spoilers for Outlander ahead!

Talk about a dark and stormy night.

Season four's third episode of Outlander, titled "The False Bride," finds Claire (Caitriona Balfe) cold, muddy, scared, and lost in the woods - until she meets a strong and silent ghostly stranger who helps her to safety and away from his burial site.

Outlander fans who haven't read Drums of Autumn, author Diana Gabaldon's fourth book in the series, likely had to patiently wait until the end credits to learn that this is indeed Otter-Tooth. Played by Trevor Carroll, Otter-Tooth is key to helping Claire further unlock the mysteries surrounding her time-traveling capabilities (as evident by her discovery that his skull features dental work that has not yet been invented).

"That was such a cool, spooky sequence to film," Balfe recently revealed to Popsugar. "Visually, it was quite cold, and obviously Claire finds this skull, and there's this amalgam filling,...

Outlander (2014)
‘Outlander’ Recap: It’s Not Happily Ever After for Brianna and Roger in ‘The False Bride’
Outlander (2014)
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “The False Bride,” the third episode of “Outlander” Season 4.

After spending the first two Season 4 episodes solely with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) in the new world, “Outlander” is finally checking in with what Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) were up to in the 1970s.

Roger sold his father’s house in Inverness to his father’s housekeeper Fiona (Iona Claire) and her husband, then set off for America to perform at a Scottish festival in North Carolina. He stopped in Boston first to see Brianna and she accompanied him on his trip south. These two were obviously smitten with one another and had a wonderful time dancing and bonding at the festival, but things took a sour turn that night.

Roger asked Brianna to marry him and she said no because she wasn’t...
