All-Star Voice Cast Revealed as Sony Dates Goat for NBA Weekend
Stephen Curry and Daniel MacPherson in The Cup (2011)
Sony Pictures Animation has enlisted Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and Stranger Things actor Caleb McLaughlin to headline the voice cast of its upcoming feature Goat, a move unveiled during the studio’s Annecy 2025 presentation. Curry will voice seasoned roarball pro Lenny Williamson, while McLaughlin plays rookie goat Will Harris, joined by Gabrielle Union, David Harbour, Jennifer Lewis, Nick Kroll and Nicola Coughlan.

Set in an all-animal league where the full-contact sport “roarball” pits predators against underdogs, the story follows diminutive Will as he tries to prove that “smalls can ball”. Sony has slated the film for 13 February 2026, deliberately coinciding with the NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.

Goat is Curry’s first feature voice role and the latest project from his Unanimous Media banner, which signed a first-look pact with Sony last year. He produces alongside partner Erick Peyton, Michelle Raimo Kouyate and Modern Magic’s Adam Rosenberg and Rodney Rothman,...

Jackie Chan Jokes He’ll Be “100 Years Old” Making ‘Rush Hour 4’
Image
With Jackie Chan reprising one of his beloved roles for Karate Kid: Legends, the actor is ready to revisit more franchises.

The honorary Oscar winner recently commented on the long-gestating Rush Hour 4, for which he assured he’s still interested in reuniting with co-star Chris Tucker, more than 25 years after the original.

“I don’t know. Ask the director, ask the studio, ask the writer,” he told ScreenRant. “Hurry up! Otherwise, Chris Tucker and me [will be] 100 years old. We’ll be old men doing Rush Hour.”

In 2017, Chan said he and Tucker had finally agreed on a script for Rush Hour 4. The pair previously starred together in director Brett Ratner’s Rush Hour (1998), Rush Hour 2 (2001) and Rush Hour 3 (2007), which earned a combined $850 million worldwide.

Additionally, Chan said “I want to do” a followup to Shanghai Noon (2000) and Shanghai Knights (2003), which will be titled Shanghai Dawn. “The script is still going on,...

Shanghai Noon Sequel Being Developed
Talks are going to restart the franchise Shanghai Noon. I have to admit, didn’t see that one coming.

Back in 2000 the duo of Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson teamed up for the action comedy Shanghai Noon. Set in the old west the movie was popular enough to get a sequel in 2003 titled Shanghai Knights. The guys definitely had some great chemistry and even my dislike of one of the actors, here’s a hint it’s not Jackie, got plenty of laughs out of me and even though the sequel wasn’t as good I still enjoyed it. So now The Hollywood Reporter that there is a sequel in development and it will be helmed by director Jared Hess (Nacho Libre, Napoleon Dynamite).

Original writers Miles Millar and Alfred Gough have provided a story which will be penned by Theodore Riley and Aaron Buchsbaum. Hess is currently finalizing the...

Shanghai Dawn Secures Napoleon Dynamite Director; Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson in Talks to Return
Over a year ago, we wrote about the possibility of a sequel to Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights called Shanghai Dawn, which would bring back stars Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson more than a decade after the last movie in this series came out. We hadn't heard much else about the project in the meantime, but THR has just announced that Jared Hess, the director of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, has been hired to direct it for MGM.

Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the Smallville scribes who also wrote the screenplays for the first two movies in this franchise, came up with the story for this sequel, and Theodore Riley and Aaron Buchsbaum handled the actual writing duties. The plot details for this upcoming installment are unknown at this time, but if Chan and Wilson end up signing on (they're currently in negotiations to return), it'll involve the continuing...

Full 2012 Black List of Best Unproduced Scripts
Every year, film executive Franklin Leonard releases his list, called The Black List, of most-liked unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. This year's list was compiled from the suggestions of 290 film executives, each of whom picked up to ten of their favorite scripts. Since the list started in 2004, many screenplays ended up being turned into films. In 2005, two of the top three scripts were "Lars and the Real Girl" which was nominated for Best Original Screenplay Oscar, and "Juno" which actually won the Oscar. See the 2012 Black List below, broken up by how many votes each screenplay received. Some of the projects are already in the works. 65 - Draft Day (Rajiv Joseph, Scott Rothman) On the day of the NFL Draft, Bills General Manager Sonny Weaver has the opportunity to save football in Buffalo when he trades for the number one pick. Draft Day, A Country of Strangers & Rodham Top the 2012 Black List
There is either a couple of football fans or Jerry Maguire/Moneyball with this year’s most liked unproduced screenplay. Close to 300 hundred film executives provided with the Black List creators a top ten of their favorite screenplays of the year and the consensus first overall pick (with 65 votes) comes from the recently featured in Variety (10 Screenwriters to Watch 2012) tandem of Rajiv Joseph & Scott Rothman and their drama which has nothing to do with enlisting in the armed forces. Draft Day – about the day in the life of a fictitious Buffalo Bills Gm appears to currently be in turnaround — which only means I expect to see this greenlight perhaps a little later than sooner – worth noting: top spot almost guarantees that the film will indeed go into production (2006, 2010 and 2011 are the exceptions.) Among the more alluring logline subjects we find on the list, I’d be keen on reading the...

Walter F. Parkes in Sweeney Todd : Le Diabolique Barbier de Fleet Street (2007)
Exclusive: Producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have acquired an untitled action-comedy set in the world of the Secret Service. Aaron Buchsbaum & Teddy Riley are writing the script. Parkes/MacDonald utilized funds from its development fund with Image Nation. The project came out of a general meeting the writers took with Parkes and MacDonald after exec Marc Resteghini brought them in. The writers pitched the project and it was bought preemptively. The Image Nation deal allows the producers to give development projects the time they need to percolate. Parkes and MacDonald will produce, and Resteghini will be exec producer. The scribes previously sold the spec El Tigre in a bidding battle to Sony Pictures earlier this year, with Mosaic producing. They also sold a script to Sony Television with Will Gluck producing. The writers met at USC. Before they started nailing script deals, Buchsbaum was an assistant to Sean Levy...
