Dimitris Dodoras was born in Cologne, Germany.
At an early age, his parents frequently took him to the opera, musicals, theaters and the movies and he started to become very imaginative on his own. He began taking piano lessons and started composing his own music.
From 2010-2014, he studied at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, The Netherlands and at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor in Music Composition. During his studies, he joined the international Creative Ensemble as a percussionist and worked with i.a. renowned cellist and composer Ernst Reijseger and saxophonist Michael Moore. In 2005, he received the Skoda Soundtrack Award at the Soundtrack_Cologne 2.0 and since then has been involved in many different international projects including films, commercials, music videos and radio plays. In 2014 he wrote the music for the award-winning short film Alter Egon supported by the film commission NRW, contributed music for the Discovery Channel and did orchestrations for Buzzfeed. Upcoming projects include the short dreamed film Blue and the documentary film Yellow Star. He participated in the BMI Composing for Screen Mentorship Program in 2013 and the SCL Mentorship Program in NY in 2016. Recently, he received a nomination for the 2020 Hollywood Music in Media Award in the category Contemporary Classical/Instrumental for his piece Journey Around The World.
Dimitris loves being a storyteller and his goal as an artist is to allow the listener and audience to dive into new worlds and participate in a narrative that connects us as individuals. Being born in Germany, with Greek roots, and being immersed in various different cultures through his travels, Dimitris is very fond of intercultural and interdisciplinary collaborations where different art forms can come together and shape a piece. Having been a frequent moviegoer all his life, he loves the challenge of supporting a plot and its characters by setting the musical tone and take the audience and listener to different places.
