Prue Leith Recalls the ‘Awful’ Grief of Losing Her 1st Husband, Shares Their Unique Love Story
Image
Prue Leith and her first husband Rayne Kruger’s love story is one for the ages. The Great British Baking Show star opened up about her late spouse on the Tuesday, August 12, episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson‘s Dinner’s on Me podcast. While reflecting on his 2002 death at the age of 80, Leith said the grief she suffered was “awful.” “When the old queen [Queen Elizabeth II] was talking about loss, I think she was talking about Prince Philip‘s death, she said, ‘Grief is the price you pay for love,'” Leith shared. “And it’s the very exact price. If you love somebody a lot, the grief is horrific.” She went on to note that, unlike herself, Kruger was “very reclusive,” which led them to purchase a farmhouse in the English countryside that was “miles from anyone else.” During their marriage, Leith said she and Kruger made it...

Prue Leith Explains Why It Has to Be Called ‘Great American Baking Show’ in the US
Image
“The Great British Bake Off” has been one of the most popular reality competition shows in the world ever since it premiered on BBC Two in 2010.

However, whether you’ve seen the U.K. series (now on Channel 4) stateside on PBS, Netflix or Roku, you’ve experienced the joys of British baking under a different name altogether — “The Great British Baking Show.” The same goes for its U.S. counterpart.

Ahead of the premiere of “The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Summer” this weekend, judge Prue Leith opened up about the discrepancy on contestant Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s “Dinner’s on Me” podcast.

“I met you initially because I got to be a contestant on ‘The American,’ um–,” the comedian started to say on Tuesday’s episode, to which the food critic answered: “‘Great American Baking.'”

“‘The Great American Baking Show,'” Ferguson continued. “I know, it’s...

Prue Leith Breaks Silence on Rumors She’s Leaving ‘Great British Baking Show’
Image
Prue Leith is setting the record straight when it comes to speculation about her future with The Great British Baking Show. The South African-British restaurateur joined the popular competition series in March 2017, replacing Mary Berry, after the show changed broadcasters in the UK.
