Dodie Brown is an award winning American actor born and raised in Louisiana. As a child, she developed her love for performing with the Richland Players Theatre Group in musicals like Oklahoma!, Oliver, and The Music Man. Her academic journey took her to Northeast Louisiana University, where she graduated with a B.B.A in 1994 and was a vibrant cheerleader. Her cheerleading and dancing prowess led her to perform in Tokyo, Japan and then to professional cheering for the Shreveport Mudbugs professional hockey team.
In 2006, Dodie was cast by Director Frank Darabont in Stephen King's The Mist (2007) alongside her daughter, Taylor E. Brown, who was six years old at the time. Since, Dodie has consistently worked, mostly in the Southeast, in a huge variety of film and television productions including Emmy-winning television series American Horror Story (2011).
Dodie stars in the independent feature Sod and Stubble (2025) based on the popular pioneer biography by the same name. The classic early pioneer story begins in 1873 and is told by Dodie's character, Rosa Haag Ise. This role truly showcases Dodie's versatility and range, as her character ages from 17 to 75, and solidifies her ability to carry a film.
Dodie cherishes moments with her family, indulges in travel, and nurtures her home garden. She loves sharing her passion for fitness and wellness with others, as a certified fitness instructor. She also enjoys coaching actors, casting, and producing.
