Biography

    • Fernando Beltran y Puga Legorreta was born in Mexico City on September 29, 1969. When he was three years old, his family moved to the small town of Tula in the state of Hidalgo (60 miles northeast of Mexico City), where he grew up watching Mexican western movies in the old "Cine Lindavista", a majestic but decrepit movie theater reminiscent of the grand theaters of the 1950s.

It wasn't until the late eighties, when he attended college in the west coast (Guadalajara, Mexico), that his real film education began. During the almost five years he studied computer science engineering, he had the opportunity to immerse himself in the masterpiece works of Jean-Luc Goddard, David Lynch, Fritz Lang, Scott Ridley, Oliver Stone, Stanley Kubrick, and Zhang Yimou.

In 1997 he moved to the United States, where he continued a successful career in Information Technology, managing multi-million dollar projects for commercial clients and for the U.S. Federal Government.

In 2005 he produced his first feature film, Eleven, and began working on the story for his feature film Alter Ego. In 1996 he hired scribe Rock Shaink Jr. to pen the script for Alter Ego and he also began preproduction of his directorial debut "Terminal".

Terminal was completed in 2007, debuting at the Pensacola International Film Festival, and later participated in the Cannes Film Festival and became a winner of the 2008 Special Jury Prize at the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival and official selection of the Fesitval Tous Courts in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Among his most important influences, Beltran y Puga mentions Chang-wook Park, Zhang Yimou, The Polish Brothers, and Stanley Kubrick.
