James Combs is a music supervisor, music coordinator, composer and musician who has had a broad, diverse career both as a performer and behind the camera. He started his musician career in the indie rock band Arson Garden, recording at Prince's Paisley Park Studio, releasing three albums on indie labels, and performing in thirty-six states and five European countries, as well as performing a live Peel Session for the legendary BBC DJ John Peel.
As a producer, James co-founded Bloomington, Indiana's Lotus World Music and Arts festival and served as the west coast producer for the pioneering live music performance program "AOL Music Sessions." He also served as producer for the radio program of KCRW producer Chris Douridas from 2002-2008.
James has written custom songs and score for a wide range of productions, including the co-written (with Gary Calamar) "True Blood" end credit song "Let's Boot and Rally" (performed by Iggy Pop and Bethany Cosentino) and score for the film "Crowbar Smile."
Co-owner of the sync licensing agency Laurel Canon Music Services, James reps music from artists like Dave Alvin and Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Bright Eyes, Maria Taylor, Azure Ray, James McMurtry, Hammock, Louise Goffin and more for sync licensing.
James has also served as music coordinator for several TV shows and films, including Amazon's "Good Girls Revolt", HBO's "Here and Now", ABC's "Alex, Inc.", CBS' "Me, Myself and I", Amazon's "The Man In The High Castle" and more.
