Gary founded Sherwood Oaks College in 1971. Gary Shusett's legacy to Hollywood through Sherwood Oaks College is giving screenwriters a rare opportunity to meet and give material to key players in Hollywood. Gary Shusett was deeply committed to seeing his students succeed in an altrustic manner. Founded in 1971 by Gary Shusett, brother of famed screenwriter, Ronald Shusett, who wrote and produced Alien, Total Recall and Minority Report, Sherwood Oaks College has been dedicated to jump-starting screenwriting careers.

Many of Gary's former students have become major Hollywood players including James Cameron, Dean Devlin, Paul Haggis, Nancy Meyers, Sylvester Stallone. Many of his Famous teachers include Lucille Ball, George Carlin, Rod Serling, Richard Dreyfus, Malcolm, Orson Welles.

Gary Shusett & Sherwood Oaks College have been featured in People magazine, various screenwriting magazines and various screenwriting books including Michael Hauge, and K. Callan. Gary Shusett has produced several movies Final Terror, Moon Over Parador & TV Series Moonbound 24 & Super Girl. His expertise in determining commercial ideas was so strong that Universal Studios offered him a job to just determine remakes that will make money.
