Ruth Borgobello is a writer/director for film and television. Ruth's debut feature film, The Space Between was Australia's candidate for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2018 Academy Awards and was the first official co-production between Italy and Australia. The film premiered at the Rome International Film Festival and had its theatrical release in 2017 across 31 cities in Italy and 5 in Australia, winning the Excellence Award in Toronto. It's now streaming on Stan. Australia.
A Victorian College of the Arts graduate in Directing for Film & TV, Ruth also holds a Graduate Diploma in Screenwriting for Film & TV from RMIT. She has directed cinema advertising campaigns for Friuli Venezia Giulia Tourism and brands such as Alfa Romeo. Ruth recently did a stint on Jack Irish and is developing her next feature film and three original television dramas, including The God Particle, in collaboration with Roadshow Rough Diamond, I am X, and Toygirl, with support from Film Victoria. She is a regular Industry Lecturer in Directing for Film & TV at Swinburne University and SAE Creative Media Institute in Melbourne.
