Anthony Mackie Recalls the Surprising Way He Was Told Sam Wilson Would Be the New Captain America
Image
Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie recently touched upon how he learned he'd be the McU's new Captain America. Mackie had previously delved into this in November.

Mackie brought this subject up in an interview with Fandango (via Screen Rant), avowing, "It was a bunch of us at [Chris Evans'] house--he had this crazy house--sitting there watching a game, shooting the sh*t. So he goes, 'have you read the new [Avengers: Endgame] script?' I said, ' nah.' And he was like 'you don't know?' And you know, being Black, I’m like 'I'mma die, damn. They're getting rid of me, man. Captain America: Brave New World Ticket Pre-Sales Trail This Recent MCU Flop
Image
Captain America: Brave New World may be in a world of trouble if early indicators stay true. The penultimate Phase Five Marvel Cinematic Universe film's ticket pre-sales trail a recent and infamous Marvel flop, providing potential warning signs for its box-office run.

According to box office analyst Luiz Fernando (via ComicBookMovie.com), Brave New World's pre-sales since tickets went available last Friday are nearly one-and-a-half times better than the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels. However, the fourth installment in the Captain America film series' early returns are on par with Eternals and "nowhere near" the maligned Phase Five opener, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Captain America: Brave New World Early Box Office Tracking To Top Valentine's Day Weekend With $80M+ Debut
Image
Early box office tracking for Captain America: Brave New World indicate a debut domestic opening ranging between $81-107 million. This report from Box Office Theory also places the Marvel Cinematic Universe's total domestic haul at a range of $195 million to $280 million. These numbers are fairly standard among previous Captain America films, with the notable exception of Captain America: Civil War. According to Box Office Mojo, the first Captain America film opened on the lower end at $65 million, while Captain America: The Winter Soldier debuted with a $95 million domestic weekend gross.

Captain America: Civil War broke this trend with a massive $179 million domestic opening, but it is worth noting that this installment in the franchise had the star power of the entire Avengers cast, as well as the first MCU appearances of Black Panther and Spider-Man. As such, Captain America: Brave New World may not measure up to the heights of the Captain America franchise,...

Predicting The 10 Highest Grossing Movies Of 2025
Image
Counting ticket sales and how much movies make at the box office in 2025 has begun, and with a whole year of releases ahead, it's time to predict what the 10 highest grossing movies of the year will be. For the third consecutive year, I'm taking my shot at projecting what the biggest box office hits will be, with a lot of crossover coming from films featured in our most anticipated movies of 2025. This is thanks to the coming year including the return of several franchises that typically do well at the box office, like Jurassic World and Avatar.

The results of predicting the year's biggest box office hits have varied over the years. 2024's highest grossing movie predictions are the best yet, with seven of ten movies correctly predicted, including only being $1 million off on Dune: Part Two's total. That's a lot better than 2023's predictions, where only four of...

McU's 'Captain America: Brave New World' Name Change from 'New World Order' Explained

Captain America: Brave New World is reportedly one of the most anticipated movies of 2025, which is quite surprising considering the incredible amount of negativity the film has been getting online. While there are many eager to see Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk bellow his way through part of the film, there is still plenty more to be revealed before the movie arrives in February. If the news that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the MCU but now playing Doctor Doom wasn't shocking to fans already, the news that Chris Evans would also be returning for Avengers: Doomsday certainly enough to make fans take notice. While Avengers: Endgame seemed to mark the end of Evans's time in the MCU as the movie gave his Steve Rogers a fitting end while also setting up the future of the Captain America franchise, Marvel Studios is bringing back the fan-favorite actor. This isn't entirely news as Evans already did return to the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine, but instead of reprising his role as Captain America, it was to play Johnny Storm/The Human Torch from the 2000's Fantastic Four movies.

Captain America: Brave New World's Title Change And Reshoots Addressed By Marvel Executive And Anthony Mackie
Image
Captain America star Anthony Mackie, Red Hulk actor Harrison Ford, and Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore explain the reason why the McU's Captain America: Brave New World changed its original title. Back when Marvel Studios unveiled its plans for the Multiverse Saga, Phase 5's Captain America 4 was subtitled "Captain America: New World Order". None of Captain America: Brave New World's villains had been revealed, but the sequel's first title already hinted at its political themes.

Speaking to Empire, Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore addresses Captain America: Brave New World's original subtitle. According to Moore, Marvel never intended to represent real-world issues. Instead, "New World Order" simply referred to the in-universe conflict Captain America finds himself in when Harrison Ford's US President Ross gets involved in a fictional conspiracy. Harrison Ford also weighs in, joking that no real-life President has turned into a Hulk yet. Read the...

All Marvel Movies Releasing In 2025

Marvel Studios kicked off Phase 5 of the MCU in 2023, and a little more than two years later, the MCU timeline will proceed into Phase 6. With the end of the Multiverse Saga approaching, it's hoped that the Marvel movies coming out in 2025 will be more integral to the overarching story, and/or continue other plot lines established in Phases 4 & 5.

In addition to the MCU movies releasing in 2025, Sony may have a Spider-Man movie hitting theaters. 'He Made It Very Clear': Anthony Mackie Reveals Big Way Harrison Ford Helped Him on Captain America 4 Set

Captain America's legacy continues as Anthony Mackie takes on the mantle in Brave New World. He recalled how co-star Harrison Ford acted like an honorary Avenger in the MCU.

Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson has one of the best story arcs in the MCU. His debut scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier established his long-standing friendship (and rivalry) with Steve Rogers. Their first encounter also emphasized Sam has the fortitude of an Avenger, even before he re-emerged as Falcon in Age of Ultron. Now set to wield Captain America's shield in Brave New World, Sam will also take on a new, formidable foe on his own. He proved he's more than capable, however; his character has been compared to Rocky's single-minded, underdog hero.
