Biography

    • Brad Lemack is a talent manager, public relations consultant, brand developer, educator, content creator, author and web series host. He opened Los Angeles-based Lemack & Company Talent Management/Public Relations in 1982, following his stint as a publicity executive at pioneer producer Norman Lear's TV production company, housed on the lot at Universal Studios, in Hollywood. There, he specialized in series television, syndicated television, film and special project publicity. Previously, Lemack had been an innovative television and radio producer and broadcaster for many years in his hometown, Boston, where he was also a founding board member of the local chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Lemack & Company has given Brad the opportunity to do the kind of work he has a passion for, with the opportunity to develop and brand new and emerging talent, as well as rebrand and grow the careers of established, working actors. Since its founding, the company has since established itself in the areas of talent management and public relations, including entertainment, personality and book publicity, business, corporate and non-profit, special event creation, production and promotion, and career/brand development, marketing and career coaching for actors. He is the recipient of several awards from the Publicity Club of Los Angeles and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America for his work in the not-for-profit sector.

In addition to Brad's leadership at Lemack & Company, he has also been a member of the faculty at Boston's Emerson College Los Angeles campus since 1995, where he created and teaches courses in the business of acting, entertainment public relations, as well as an academic section of the College's acclaimed industry internship program. He was also involved with creating a partnership between Emerson Los Angeles and the Upright Citizen's Brigade, one of the industry's preeminent improve comedy training and performances centers. Brad created the syllabus and co-caught the popular UCB improv class for Comedic Arts students (and others) for several years. He also created and launched an experimental "Business of the Business" course for all related majors.

He is the recipient of the 2019 Faculty Award, in appreciation of outstanding service to the Emerson College community, from Emerson College Affiliated Faculty/American Association of University Professors (AAUP). In 2022, he received the Alan L. Stanzler Award for Excellence in Teaching from Emerson College, the first Los Angeles campus professor to be honored with this distinguished award.

Brad added Elon University to his academic responsibilities in 2010 when he created and began teaching a course in entertainment PR and celebrity crisis management for the school's prestigious Los Angeles Program. He has since added Los Angeles academic internship supervisor to his Elon resume, guiding and mentoring students through their industry internship experiences in the L.A. Program.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Emerson College and his Master of Arts in theatre arts and dance, with a concentration in performance for social change, from California State University, Los Angeles. His passion for the study of the impact and risk of celebrity activism has led him to recently research and begin pre-production work on a documentary exploring the topic.

Brad has written four popular books for actors and other industry artists and content creators. His first book, 'The Business of Acting: Learn the Skills You Need to Build the Career You Want," was first published in 2002. His second book, "The New Business of Acting: How to Build a Career in a Changing Landscape," was first published in 2010. His third book, "The New Business of Acting: The Next Edition," was first published in October 2018. The YouTube web series "Inside the Business of Acting," which he hosts and produces, is a companion project to his books.

In August 2020, Brad published "COVID Update," a supplement to "The New Business of Acting: The Next Edition," which explores the impact of the pandemic on the industry and guides actors in how to create and navigate a COVID-proof action plan for getting back on their career journeys in the "new normal." "COVID Update" ranked Amazon's #1 New Release in its genre when it was published. The audiobook version was released in October 2020 and continues to rank as a bestseller on audible.
