Biography

    • David Briggs is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work spans diverse factual genres, including Science, History, Art, Current Affairs and Environment/Nature. His programs have been featured on leading platforms such as the BBC, Discovery, Channel 4, Netflix, Amazon and Bilibili.

David directed an episode of the acclaimed Chris Packham BBC/PBS series 'Earth', which utilized cutting-edge CGI to chronicle the last 66 million years of our planet's history, from the extinction of the dinosaurs to the present day. The episode was shortlisted for the 2024 Grierson Award for Best Science Documentary.

As Series Director and Producer, David crafted the award-winning BBC Studios/Bilibili series 'Rendezvous with the Future', exploring the science behind the international bestseller '3 Body Problem' (now a major Netflix drama). The series became Bilibili's most successful original science series, garnering over 88 million views and winning multiple accolades, including a Golden Kapok Award for Best Documentary Series.

David also directed the feature-length BBC/Discovery documentary 'Hubble: Thirty Years of Discovery', celebrating three decades of daring missions to repair and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope. Featuring interviews with renowned astronauts like Mike Massimino and Kathryn Thornton, the film earned nominations for the WCSFP Buzzie Awards, BANFF Rockie Awards, and Golden Kapok Awards.
