Dirk Hermann was born in Castrop-Rauxel and studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse and at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York. Even before he trained as an actor, he worked at the Bochum Schauspielhaus. This was followed by engagements in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Berlin, Basel, Bochum and for TUI Cruises Entertainment on the high seas.
He gained his first cinematic experience in the USA in the anti-war film "Empty", directed by Jared Micah Herman. He appeared on German television and on the big screen as RAF terrorist Werner Hoppe in Uli Edel's Der Baader-Meinhof Komplex and in the leading role of businessman Adolph Dattan in the ZDF / Arte production "Siberia and the Germans". Der Baader-Meinhof Komplex was nominated for an academy award. He starred in the television mini series "Breaking Even" directed by Boris Kunz. From September 2022 to April 2023, filming for the new interpretation of the Nibelungenlied HAGEN, produced by Constantin Film, as a spectacular fantasy epic, took place in Prague and Germany. Both a visually stunning feature film is planned as an event for cinema release and a six-part series for the international market.
