In today’s film news roundup, shooting has wrapped on Ryan Reynolds’ “6 Underground,” BAFTA La names new board members, and the WGA East honors longtime exec Randall Jasta.

Michael Bay’s Ryan Reynolds-starrer “6 Underground” has wrapped production.

Netflix and Skydance Media completed principal photography in Abu Dhabi on the action-adventure, which reportedly carries a $125 million budget. The film also stars Mélanie Laurent, Corey Hawkins, Adria Arjona, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ben Hardy, Lior Raz, Payman Maadi, and Dave Franco.

The movie is being produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger, along with Bay and Ian Bryce. It’s based on an original idea from “Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Details of the plot have been kept under wraps.

“Making this movie was an experience I will never forget,” Reynolds said on Tuesday. “I was impressed with the local crew and artisans we’ve met throughout our journey.

The senior vice-president of development at Sony Pictures Television Networks will commence her new post on January 1 2019, and succeeds Kieran Breen, the president of international marketing at 20th Century Fox International who has reached his term limit but will continue as a trustee.

Karl Stewart, president and co-founder of 1TwentyFour, takes on Busby’s previous role of deputy chair of the board.

Sony Exec Kathryn Busby To Chair BAFTA La Board; 1TwentyFour’s Karl Stewart Set As Deputy Chair
Sony exec Kathryn Busby is to chair the board of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ Los Angeles division.

Busby, who is Senior Vice President of Development at Sony Pictures Television Networks, will begin her term from January 1 2019 and will succeed Kieran Breen, President of International Marketing for 20th Century Fox International, who has reached his term limit as an La Board Member.

Busby was formerly Deputy Chair and will be succeeded by Karl Stewart, President and Co-Founder of 1TwentyFour.

Other new members include Waterworld actor Alexa Jago, Film and Entertainment Strategist Louise Chater, Melissa Myers, Scripted Television Agent and Partner at Wme and Netflix’s Vice President of Original Series at Nina Wolarsky. They will join current Board Members Phil Cross (Treasurer), Gary Goldberger (Secretary), Adam Bialow, Tara Halloran, Sandro Monetti, and Roy Taylor.

Outgoing board members completing their term as Board Members in 2018 include Beverley Ward and Chris Rice.

Bafta reshuffles La, New York boards
Arianna Bocco appointed Bafta New York board chair.

Bafta has unveiled several board appointments for its branches in La and New York.

Arianna Bocco has been elected to serve as chair of the board at Bafta New York after stepping up from the role of vice chair. Bocco is executive vice president, acquisitions and production, at IFC Films and Sundance Selects. She replaces Luke Parker Bowles, who, having served a two-year term, steps down to vice chair for a one-year period.

Also elected to Bafta New York’s board are Maria Ishak, vice president, north america sales at all3media International, and Melinda Matlin, rights administrator at NBCUniversal and vice chair of Bafta’s New York Screening Committee.

In Los Angeles, Kathryn Busby succeeds Peter Morris as deputy chair of the board. Busby is senior vice president of development, Sony Pictures TV Networks.

Also elected to the Bafta La board are Sandro Monetti, journalist and media analyst...
