Kirk Frost Is the Most Disrespectful Cheater in 'Love & Hip Hop' History
Image
The Love & Hip Hop franchise was built on dysfunctional relationships. The Atlanta-based reality series became a pop culture phenomenon due to a toxic love triangle between music producer Stevie J. and his girlfriend Mimi Faust and sexy protg Joseline Hernandez aka the Puerto Rican princess. The NY series became water-cooler conversation because of former hip-hop emcee Peter Gunz and his volatile-throuple with Amina Buddafly and his longtime girlfriend Tara, who was also the mother of his young children. With cheating and relationship drama being the lifeblood of the show, it's difficult to imagine a couple could take things too far, but Kirk Frost has managed to achieve the impossible with blatant disregard and disrespect for his wife. Rasheeda Frost achieved Atlanta-based hip-hop fame for her model good-looks, around the way girl persona and lyrical prowess. Rasheeda joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in the first season...

First Jay-Z and Nas Collab “No Love Lost” Hits Streaming with Shaq’s 1996 Album
Image
Nowadays, Shaquille O’Neal is best known for his work on Inside the NBA and as an Icy Hot pitchman, but he made his name as one of the most dominant basketball players of all time. This gave Shaq a leg up in pursuing rapping, and he released four albums in the 1990s. His third effort, You Can’t Stop the Reign, is now on streaming, and it notably features Jay-Z and Nas’ first collaboration.

The streaming version of “No Love Lost” marks the first time we’re officially hearing the original track. Apparently, Nas didn’t clear his verse for the album’s 1996 release.

Though Shaq had become a capable Mc three albums into his career and Lord Tariq is talented in his own right, Jay and Nas are obviously the main attractions on “No Love Lost.”

Both in their mafioso eras, neither artist disappoints, with Jay rapping, “We stepped it up,...

Hip-Hop Celebrates Its Golden Anniversary at Yankee Stadium
Image
There was a cipher going on outside the Hip-Hop 50 Live show at Yankee Stadium. One woman took the mic, intently closing her eyes while focusing on her next bar. As I walked away, she rhymed an improvisational derivative of recuperate, before spitting “that’s not even a word, I just be sayin’ shit.” The line set an apropos tone for the day. Hip-hop was bore out of rule-shirking and boundless imagination — and it made its way to “the house that Ruth built” to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

While Queens’ Rock...

Hip-Hop 50: Run-dmc, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Lauryn Hill Perform at Yankee Stadium
Image
Returning to hip-hop’s birthplace, classic rappers who pioneered the sound — as well as those who have proudly carried the rap torch — joined forces to honor the genre’s 50th birthday and celebrate its historic and global impact on pop culture.

It was only fitting that a venue as iconic as Bronx’s Yankee Stadium became the home for the eight-hour celebration, which included three dozen performers and nearly 50,000 audience members.

The universal love for rap was at the center of the night, and rappers like Nas and Snoop Dogg owned the night while also honoring those who came before them.

During his set, Nas brought out hip-hop founding father DJ Kool Herc and told the crowd: “This is our love. This is our bloodline.” Herc, 68, earned a standing ovation and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. Kool G Rap also appeared onstage alongside Nas,...

Shaquille O’Neal Returns to Rap With New Song in Celebration of NBA Playoffs (Exclusive)
Image
Shaquille O’Neal is returning to rap.

The NBA legend who released four hip-hop albums in the ‘90s will drop a new single called “King Talk” on May 2 in celebration of the NBA Playoffs. It is a collaboration with Ghanian-American rapper Blackway.

O’Neal first teased the song on Feb. 7 on his Twitter, Instagram and TikTok in an animation video that celebrated LeBron James passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

The 51-year-old entertainer had success in the ‘90s with music, including the platinum-selling album Shaq Diesel, released in 1993. It featured the gold-selling singles “What’s Up Doc? (Can We Rock)” and “(I Know I Got) Skillz” — which both cracked the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart — as well as collaborations with late A Tribe Called Quest rapper Phife Dawg, Def Jef and Fu-Schnickens. Some of the tracks were produced by Epmd’s Erick Sermon and Tribe’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

French Montana Embodies Rap History And Makes Some of His Own
Image
French Montana has a knack for crafting au courant earworms that pay subtle homage to rap’s illustrious history. After cementing his rep as New York’s most in-demand mixtape maven (under the careful tutelage of ByrdGang iconoclast and self-proclaimed “wave God,” Max B), the Bronx Mc topped the charts in 2012 with “Shot Caller,” which had Ig models and dope boys bopping to the same madcap horns from Lords of the Underground’s grimy 1993 cut, “Funky Child.” It hit the streets like a gleeful tsunami — everyone wanted to ride the wave.

Evil Pageant Queens! Dance School Sadists! The 10 Worst Reality Villains of 2013
View Photo Gallery

We don’t watch reality shows for the sweet characters. The do-gooders, the faithful wives, the lifelong friends who don’t leap across tables to rip each other’s throats out. No, it’s all about the villains! Now, it’s a reality show standard to have a wild card (or two) on each show. Hair-pulling, backstabbing, boyfriend-stealing, tacky tantrums, blatant bullying…this is what the genre is made of!

And the best villains know that the shows depend on them. If they really channel their inner lunatic, these characters can land endorsement deals, book contracts, or, like Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes (a reformed villain), they can even score a role on a legit scripted show — hello, Glee.

In 2013, the reality genre experienced a villain boom. Dance Mom’s Abby Lee Miller was like a witch out of a Grimm’s fairy tale, cackling...

Elizabeth McGovern, Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Brendan Coyle, Joanne Froggatt, Penelope Wilton, Allen Leech, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Lily James, Fifi Hart, and Oliver Barker in Downton Abbey (2010)
It may have taken two seasons, but "Downton Abbey" has finally permeated pop culture, thanks to a very clever rap, written and produced by Adam WarRock.

"Downton," which includes a sample from Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz's "Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)," has one catchy chorus, but we're not quite sure the Dowager Countess would aprove.

"If you're from where I'm from then you call it Downton/In the house like Lord Grantham/That's the damn anthem/Live the high life in the abbey we run/And we sip Earl Grey when the day is done."

"Downton Abbey" is currently filming Season 3 in the UK. Joining the British drama for the third season is Academy Award-winning actress Shirley MacLaine.

Cory Gunz is out on bail, but the Young Money rapper is not out of the woods just yet.

On Saturday afternoon, Gunz was arrested in the Bronx, New York, after cops searched his backpack and found an unregistered Taurus .9mm pistol. He was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm and, if convicted, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of three and a half years in jail.

"This was a big mistake on my part," Gunz told the New York Daily News early Monday morning after his dad, Peter Gunz, posted the $30,000 bail. "I didn't have any intentions of harming anyone or committing a criminal activity. So many young people look up to me and I need to fight through this.

Veteran Bronx Mc Peter Gunz confirmed to MTV News early Sunday (January 29) that his son, rapper Cory Gunz, was arrested for gun possession in the Bronx, New York, on Saturday afternoon.

"The details are still sketchy, but I can confirm that he was arrested with a firearm yesterday in the Bronx," Gunz told MTV News. "They caught him around 2 p.m. in the afternoon with a loaded gun in his knapsack.

"It was definitely an illegal search," Peter added.

'Son of a Gun' first look: Meet Cory Gunz, Lil' Wayne protégé and MTV reality star
Cory Gunz hasn't had much luck with his last two record deals, but on his third and possibly final shot, MTV has their cameras rolling to capture all the trials and tribulations along the way.

The rapping son of formerly famous Peter Gunz, Cory hopes to take his career to levels his father could never reach. Previously signed to both Casablanca and Def Jam, the young rapper must decide which record label to go to next, all while dealing with the blurred lines between family, friends and business.

"Cory's story is inspiring, one that boldly paints the many trials and tribulations he's had to endure in pursuit of his dreams," says executive producer Nick Cannon. "I'm grateful for the access that Cory and Peter allowed us to have in order to create a series that we feel will really resonate with MTV viewers."

"Nick is my big brother now, for real,...

Long before Charlie Sheen proclaimed he only had one gear ("Go!"), Lil Wayne proved to be a high-octane performer. It's a lesson that isn't lost on his latest protégé, Bronx rapper Cory Gunz, who guests on Lil Wayne's current banger, the rattling "6 Foot 7 Foot."

"All of his performances, whether it's a video or a live performance, his energy is always the same: It's always up,...
