FLING (internationally titled LIE TO ME) was John's debut feature as writer, producer, and director. Dubbed "One of the top ten films of 2008" by FOX-TV film critic Shawn Edwards, FLING enjoyed an award-winning festival run, was released theatrically, and is currently available worldwide. It has reached over 95 million views on YouTube alone. A surprisingly personal dramedy about a couple navigating the hazards of an open relationship, its sexy ensemble cast features Brandon Routh (SUPERMAN RETURNS, The CW's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW), Nick Wechsler (ABC's REVENGE, The WB's ROSWELL), Ellen Hollman (THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS, Starz's SPARTACUS), and Courtney Ford (HBO's TRUE BLOOD, Showtime's DEXTER). It was shot on Super35mm film in John's hometown of Kansas City, Missouri.
As a series creator and show developer, John created and wrote the comedy series SCHOOL NURSE (with fellow creators Laura Boersma and Tom Beach), which received the jury award for best scripted sitcom at the Austin Film Festival and was an official selection of the New York Television Festival.
He directed A-List celebs for Nickelodeon's ORANGE CARPET SPECIAL EDITION, and his award-winning Fox Sports documentary series, THE BUICK HUMAN HIGHLIGHT REEL, featured world-renowned athletes like Alan Page and Tamika Catchings.
John has also directed and written episodes for BLACKBOXTV, the premium YouTube channel of Anthony E. Zuiker, creator of the CSI franchise, and sold an original comedy series, LOVING THE SINGLE MAN, to Michael Eisner's new media company, Vuguru.
In 2016, John was awarded the prestigious honor of an Amtrak Writer's Residency where he was given the opportunity to travel across America by train to focus on his screenwriting.
He also supports donkey rescue centers across the country.
