Ginny & Georgia Creator Sarah Lampert Unpacks Season 3 and Teases What’s Next
Image
It was a long wait for Ginny & Georgia Season 3 — and it was absolutely worth it.

The series raised the stakes higher than ever, with Georgia staring down a lengthy prison sentence before a last-minute twist from her son changed everything.

And that was just one of many bombshells. From heartbreak to healing, every character in Wellsbury had something big going on.

(Amanda Matlovich/Netflix)

TV Fanatic caught up with series creator Sarah Lampert to break down Season 3’s most burning questions — and how it all sets the stage for a game-changing Season 4.

Check out the full interview below.

(Tina Turnbow)

TV Fanatic: Ginny & Georgia Season 3 is one of those seasons where so much happens. Not a single scene feels wasted, and there’s so much rewatch value.

Sarah Lampert: Thank you. I’ve been seeing a lot of comments online recently that people are on their second or third rewatch.

Ginny & Georgia Season 4 Gets A Major Filming Update From Star
Image
Brianne Howey, who plays titular character Georgia in the hit Netflix dramedy Ginny & Georgia, has shared a promising update for season 4. Ginny & Georgia season 3 provided another 10-episode season full of drama and emotion. With Georgia dealing with a murder trial while her family crumbles and succumbs to the pressure of the national press, it was unreasonable to believe that all would be well once she'd been acquitted and returned home. Ginny & Georgia season 3 ended on another bombshell cliffhanger, but thankfully, viewers won't have to wait for news of another season.

Ginny & Georgia received a dual-season renewal in 2023, and the writers' room for season 4 started work on the upcoming installment earlier this year. During a recent interview with Collider's Ladies Night, Howey revealed that production on the next season is expected to begin later this year. The star also explained that knowing the show would return for...

Even the cast was surprised by that Ginny and Georgia season 3 finale pregnancy twist
Image
The Ginny and Georgia season 3 finale left all of us in shock, especially the final moments of the episode. The last episode of the third season featured many twists and turns, but none as surprising as the announcement that Georgia is pregnant. And, it was actually even a shock to the cast too!

In an interview with Us Weekly, Mayor Paul actor Scott Porter spoke with the news outlet and revealed that he, and the cast, didn't know about that particular plot twist until the table read! If you didn't know, the actors usually get scripts a little before that. Though when they went in for the finale, there was a change at the end of the script. Here's what Porter told Us Weekly:

“We were reading the script, and at the very end, there is the addendum of her drinking the milk. The words, ‘Mom, you only drink milk when you’re pregnant,...

"A Punch In The Gut": MCU Captain America Runner-Up Reveals Final Four Actors In Marvel's Casting Process And What It Was Like To Lose Out To Chris Evans
Image
One of the final runner-ups for the role of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Captain America: The First Avenger opens up about the gig ultimately going to Chris Evans. Captain America: The First Avenger was one of the first films of Phase 1, and Steve Rogers was one of the most important heroes in the early MCU, with several actors vying for what would become one of the biggest roles in the franchise. While Evans ended up winning out and joining the MCU as Captain America, one of the stars who was a runner-up is opening up about the casting process.

During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Ginny & Georgia star Scott Porter, who plays Mayor Paul Randolph in the Netflix series, was asked about being a finalist for the role of Captain America, and he confirmed he was in the final four.

Ginny & Georgia Star Remembers 'Sobbing, Heaving' After Losing Out on Major MCU Role: 'It Was Bad'
Image
It's hard to imagine the MCU without Chris Evans playing Steve Rogers, the soldier whose sheer good nature made him Captain America. But that very nearly was the case.

Recently, Ginny & Georgia star Scott Porter revealed on Watch What Happens Live! that he was down to the final four to play the Star-Spangled Man. It's already known that Marvel Studios held an extensive hunt for their Cap and many people were considered, including John Krasinski, Jensen Ackles, and Wyatt Russell. But it took skill and a certain Steve-Rogers-ness to get to the final four.

And Porter holds no grudge against the people who skipped over him for the role. "Who else can be Captain America than Chris Evans?" Porter said. "I was not mad at all, and I watched all the Avengers movies. I’m a huge nerd, and the man just crushed it."

He wasn't superhuman when it came to his emotions,...

As excitement builds around the upcoming Friday Night Lights reboot, fans have been speculating whether any of the beloved original cast members will return to the new series. And the show’s creator, Peter Berg, who brought the heartfelt Texas football drama to life, recently addressed these hopes.

While he’s not opposed to familiar faces making a comeback, Berg made it clear that their return hinges on one key condition: that they won’t be getting the spotlight in the reboot, as he is focused on reinventing the series.

‘Ginny and Georgia’ Star Reveals He Lost One Of The Iconic Original Avengers MCU Roles
Image
Before Chris Evans suited up as Steve Rogers and turned Captain America into one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most beloved heroes, there were a few other names in the running — and Ginny & Georgia star Scott Porter was one of them. During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live!, the Friday Night Lights alum revealed he made it to the final four actors being considered to lead 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. The part, as we all now know, went to Evans — but not before Porter’s hopes were sky-high.

“Who else can be Captain America than Chris Evans? I was not mad at all, and I watched all the Avengers movies. I’m a huge nerd, and the man just crushed it.”

Porter noted that he wasn’t upset about the final choice. That doesn’t mean the rejection didn’t sting. Far from it.

The Friday Night Lights Star Who Almost Became Marvel's Captain America
Image
When "Iron Man" took the worldwide box office by storm in the summer of 2008, it did so with the audacious promise of not just sequels, but the creation of an entire big-screen universe that would culminate in the superhero mash-up comic book fans had been dreaming of since they were children. Could this newfangled Marvel Cinematic Universe hook enough rank-and-file moviegoers to achieve this lofty goal?

This would all be contingent on numerous gambles breaking in the company's favor. Marvel had to team steady-handed directors with color-inside-the-lines screenwriters, who would then hope like hell that the not-quite-a-list stars they'd cast to play these heroes could turn them into billion-dollar franchise pillars.

The most well-publicized casting competition at the time centered on finding the perfect, fresh-faced up-and-coming star to take up the shield of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. I was covering this process at the time for Ain't It Cool News,...

Captain America: Actors Who Made It To The Final Four Alongside Chris Evans For The First Avenger Revealed
Image
While many actors were in contention for the role of Steve Rogers in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, it was ultimately Chris Evans who was chosen to play the McU's Star-Spangled Avenger.

If you were active on this site at the time, you'll likely recall that the news received a mixed response. Evans hadn't exactly been on a hot streak, and the majority seemingly couldn't imagine the actor going from playing the Human Torch to suiting up as Captain America. Needless to say, he proved all his doubters wrong.

Friday Night Lights and Ginny & Georgia star Scott Porter recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live! and revealed that he made it to the final four in contention to lead Captain America: The First Avenger.

"Who else can be Captain America than Chris Evans?" Porter acknowledged. "I was not mad at all, and I watched all the Avengers movies. I’m a huge nerd,...

‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 3 Sets Highest Record ‘Never Have I Ever’ Couldn’t Reach in 4 Long Seasons
Image
Netflix has delivered some of the most popular teen drama series in recent memory. Never Have I Ever and Ginny & Georgia are also a part of the elite Netflix roster. While both shows cater to the same young adult audience, their journeys have been quite different. Never Have I Ever was often praised for its coming-of-age charm and cultural representation.

Ginny & Georgia, on the other hand, drew criticism early on for trying to do too much, often juggling crime, trauma, romance, and teen angst all at once. In a surprising twist, Ginny & Georgia has officially entered record-breaking territory for Netflix teen dramas, delivering a peak episode that fans and IMDb voters alike can’t stop talking about.

Ginny & Georgia takes a massive leap in Season 3

While it’s not uncommon for shows to get better with time, Ginny & Georgia has made a particularly massive leap in terms of audience reception.

Ginny and Georgia Explains Why Paul Leaves Georgia In Season 3
Image
Ginny and Georgia Season 3 explained why Paul Randolph (Scott Porter) left his wife, Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey), amid his house arrest and ongoing trial. The new season of Netflix's much-anticipated drama series explored the ramifications of Georgia's arrest for the murder of Tom Fuller (Vincent Legault). The arrest was significant because it happened during Georgia and Paul's dream wedding.

Among Georgia's lovers in the series, Paul is the most stable and understanding of her situation. He is also the current mayor of Wellsbury, Massachusetts. Although Zion (Georgia's first love and Ginny's biological father) briefly threatened their future together, Georgia eventually chose Paul as her husband.

However, Georgia and Paul's happily ever after came crashing down in Ginny and Georgia Season 3, which had something to do with Georgia's reckless actions.

“She’s an Entirely New Person”: ‘Ginny & Georgia’s Brianne Howey Dubs Season 3 Georgia’s Breakdown Season [Exclusive]
Image
Editor's Note: This article contains spoilers for Ginny & Georgia Season 3.

One thing that's remained true throughout Ginny & Georgia so far is that, despite her flaws, Georgia loves her children more than anything. The series has focused on her desperate attempts to give Ginny and Austin a fresh start in Wellsbury, where they could, ideally, live a normal life together. Alas, her relationships and past continue to haunt the family, with Season 2 taking a particularly devastating turn in its finale when she's arrested for the murder of Cynthia's husband, Tom. Her eccentric, free-spirited nature has never made life the easiest for her children, but series star Brianne Howey notes that she did take a small step forward in how she acts for their sake in Season 3.

During the latest episode of Collider Ladies Night with Perri Nemiroff, Howey dug deep on all the juicy details of the recently-released season,...

Why ‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 3 Pushed Its Main Characters to Their Breaking Point
Image
[This story contains Major spoilers from Ginny & Georgia season three.]

Sarah Lampert, the creator of Netflix’s hit series Ginny & Georgia, knew going into season three that she wanted to bring her main characters to their breaking point so they could rebuild their relationships.

While it’s always been “the two of us against the world” for Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Georgia (Brianne Howey), this latest installment puts that to the test. In season three, Georgia is on house arrest during her trial for murdering Cynthia’s (Sabrina Grdevich) husband, Tom. However, when her actions start to tear down everyone around her, including her children, Ginny and Austin (Diesel La Torraca), Georgia has to look inward for once.

‘Ginny & Georgia’ Star Scott Porter Talks Mayor Paul Randolph’s “Reckoning” In Season 3

Spoiler Alert: This post spoils the entirety of Ginny & Georgia Season 3.

Scott Porter’s character, Mayor Paul Randolph, has quite the arc in Ginny & Georgia Season 3, where viewers see him getting caught up in the cyclone that is Georgia Miller’s (Brianne Howey) murder trial.

A small taste of what he was in for occurred at the end of Season 2 when Georgia finally came clean to him about a select range of topics from her dark and sometimes questionable past — including her family trauma, her abusive ex Gil and more. But still, she did not share all of it with him.

“I’ve been saying this word again and again for Season 3, and the word is reckoning, and it is for all of our characters. People have chosen to ignore things that maybe they should have addressed, and a lot of our characters have chosen to act without thinking,...

‘Ginny & Georgia’ Creator and Showrunner Break Down Season 3 Twists and Turns, Tease Season 4 Fallout
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “Ginny & Georgia” Season 3, Episode 10.

In “Ginny & Georgia” Season 3, Brianne Howey’s Georgia Miller is put on trial — but not just in the court of law. “She’s also on trial with her friends and family,” showrunner Sarah Glinski told TheWrap. “Everyone’s judging her and figuring out if they want to continue being part of their lives.”

That includes her daughter, Ginny (Antonia Gentry), who is taken from Georgia in the midst of her murder trial to live with her father, Zion (Nathan Mitchell), while Austin (Diesel La Torraca) is sent to live with his father, Gil (Aaron Ashmore), whose pattern of abuse raises eyebrows. Though Ginny and Georgia’s separation forces the mother-daughter duo to confront some difficult issues on their own, series creator Sarah Lampert noted the shift could ultimately help them achieve a healthier relationship.

The two have maintained a fairly close relationship as co-parents throughout the series, even reconciling on occasion, but Georgia's trial required him to step up in a greater way than ever to support Ginny and Austin at a time when it seemed their mother might go to prison. However, according to star Brianne Howey, that bond between the two will never be the...

Is Georgia Pregnant in Ginny and Georgia Season 3?
Image
Spoilers ahead for ‘Ginny and Georgia’ Season 3.

The finale of Ginny and Georgia season 3 ended with not one, but (almost) two twists. Not only did the lengthy murder trial take over the third season of Ginny and Georgia, but the latest act also incorporated the theme of pregnancy subtly into the narrative.

Premiering on June 5, Ginny and Georgia picked up the pace pretty quickly and took it up from where it ended at the finale of season 2. The last season ended with Georgia’s arrest for Tom Fuller’s murder, and the season wasted no time in proceeding to the drama in the courtroom.

However, the murder procedure was not the only stirring point of the season, as the show experimented with the theme of pregnancy as well. While hints of positive pregnancy reports are shown early in the show, the question remains whether Georgia is really pregnant again.

However, in the last season, we saw how Georgia (Howey) got arrested on the day of her marriage to Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter) on murder charges for allegedly killing Tom Fuller. The new season picked up from where the second...

Ginny and Georgia Season 3 Explains Who Snitched on Georgia - And Why They Did It
Image
Ginny and Georgia Season 3 explained the truth on why a major character from Season 2 chose to snitch on Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey), which ultimately led to her eventful arrest. The 10-episode third season of Netflix's drama series showed the aftermath of Georgia's arrest during her dream wedding with Wellsbury Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter). Georgia was arrested for the murder of Tom Fuller (Vincent Legault), the already-dying husband of Cynthia Fuller, who became close with her in Season 2.

While Georgia experienced jail time in Ginny & Georgia Season 3, Episode 1, she managed to get out and was placed under house arrest after using her charm to convince the judge presiding over her arraignment. However, Georgia's problem worsened after an unexpected character returned during her trial.

‘Ginny & Georgia’ Stars Brianne Howey And Antonia Gentry Discuss Season 3’s Big “Heartwarming” And “Heartbreaking” Moments
Image
Spoiler Alert! This post contains Major spoilers for the entirety of Ginny & Georgia Season 3.

Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia puts its dynamic mother-daughter duo to the test like never before, and that’s saying something, because the pair have been through a lot — both individually and as a family unit.

Following the crazy cliffhanger ending of Season 2 in which Georgia (Brianne Howey) gets arrested during the reception of her wedding to Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter) for the murder of Tom Fuller. Shortly before this shocking situation, she had experienced the return of her violent ex and son Austin’s father Gil Timmins (Aaron Ashmore). As if these elements of her past weren’t enough to come back and haunt her, Ginny often mirrors her mother in uncanny ways, reminding Georgia of decisions she has made that brought her to this situation.

‘Ginny & Georgia’: Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry Break Down Shocking Season 3 Twists (Video)
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Ginny & Georgia Season 3.] After a two-year break, Ginny & Georgia returned for Season 3 and hit the ground running. The Netflix series picked up right after Georgia’s (Brianne Howey) arrest (at her own wedding!) in connection with Tom Fuller’s death. Georgia was put on trial, which tested Ginny (Antonia Gentry), Austin (Diesel La Torraca), Paul (Scott Porter), and the rest of Wellsbury like never before. Over the course of Season 3, Georgia’s chances of getting out of jail grew smaller. All signs pointed to Georgia being convicted of killing Tom Fuller without a Hail Mary. Well, Ginny stepped in with a Hail Ginny. Ginny knew that she would lose her mother to prison if someone else weren’t implicated in Tom Fuller’s death. She soon realized (after finding out key information from Cynthia) that Georgia’s abusive ex and Austin’s father, Gil (Aaron Ashmore), would be the perfect...

‘Ginny & Georgia’ Star Antonia Gentry Is Turning Her Delusions Into Reality
Image
[This story contains spoilers for Ginny & Georgia season three.]

If there’s one thing Antonia Gentry is going to do, she’s going to turn her delusions into reality.

As a self-proclaimed “couch potato” growing up, “watching anything under the sun” with her parents, the 27-year-old actress says that’s where her love of film and television began. She later got involved with theater in high school and college, which only helped her prepare to land her breakout role as Ginny in Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia.

Now, after playing the character for three seasons, Gentry tells The Hollywood Reporter it was “so fun” to play a new version of Ginny in the third installment, which sees her take on a more adult role as her mom, Georgia (Brianne Howey), is on trial for murder. “I absolutely love this version of Ginny, and I don’t know what’s gonna happen in season four yet,...

Ginny & Georgia has challenged the mold between drama and comedy, tackling all sorts of themes, for two seasons, and Season 3 follows in those footsteps.

Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Review — Can a Killer Plot Save the Show?
Image
Using the soap opera for teen dramas is a hallmark of television. In a way, Netflix has weaponized the format to create a dozen shows that fill the void that traditional TV left for the target audience. Ginny & Georgia, entering its third season, continues to combine small-town life with a wild killing spree on the side. While the mother and daughter run from the past, it seems the cyclical nature of life continues to throw them curveballs. With a murder trial, a mayoral campaign, and the shifting moods of the town, Ginny & Georgia has the narrative beats to be a fun show. Unfortunately, it’s not always a good one.

Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Plot

To kick off Season 3, Ginny & Georgia picks up in the immediate aftermath of Georgia’s (Brianne Howey) arrest, and the town of Wellsbury turns against her. Georgia’s new husband, Mayor Paul...

Original Friday Night Lights Star Addresses Potential Cameo In Peacock's Upcoming Reboot, 17 Years After Exiting The Series
Image
Friday Night Lights alum Scott Porter weighs in on whether he'd be willing to return as Jason Street in Peacock's Friday Night Lights reboot. The acclaimed TV series, adapted from the novel "Friday Night Lights" and the 2004 film directed by Peter Berg, aired on NBC for its first two seasons, before shifting to DirectTV's 101 Network for seasons 3-5. Porter played Jason Street, a star quarterback who became a quadriplegic after a tragic accident, in Friday Night Lights seasons 1-3, and he made a return appearance in season 5.

Speaking to Deadline, Scott Porter says he would "100% go back" to West Texas as Jason Street in Peacock's Friday Night Lights reboot, but "only if it serves the story." Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Cast Guide
Image
People travel all over the world for a honeymoon: Italy, the Maldives, Japan. But in Ginny & Georgia, moments after Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) and Paul Randolph (Scott Porter) finish the first dance at their fairy-tale wedding, Georgia finds herself in much less pleasant post-nuptial climes: behind bars at the Wellsbury jail.

Season 2’s finale left everyone’s favorite Wellsburians in limbo. Georgia’s marital celebrations are curtailed by her sudden arrest in connection with Tom Fuller’s (Vincent Legault) murder. Paul finally gets clued in about Georgia’s dubious past, only for her police escort from their wedding ceremony to strain his tentative trust. Crushed by their breakup, Ginny (Antonia Gentry) tries to be there for Marcus (Felix Mallard) as a friend as he battles his demons. And sweet 10-year-old Austin (Diesel La Torraca) shoots his dad in the arm after Gil (Aaron Ashmore) attacked Georgia in her kitchen. In other words,...

Scott Porter Would “Love To Stop By” Peacock’s ‘Friday Night Lights’ Reboot “Only If It Serves The Story”
Image
Friday Night Lights alum Scott Porter is open to revisiting the show’s universe in Peacock’s reboot, but he also acknowledges that his character had a great conclusion in the original series.

Deadline first reported the streamer landing the reboot in December. Porter played a prominent role in the first three seasons of Friday Night Lights as Jason Street, the former star quarterback of the Dillon Panthers who is shockingly paralyzed during a football game in the pilot episode. The injury forces Jason on a difficult journey to rediscover himself and carve a new path, once football is no longer an option.

“I love the way that Jason Street’s story ended. I think his final couple of scenes with Tim [Riggins] in New York tell you everything you need to know,” Porter told Deadline. “That’s a friendship that will never die, that will always exist. Doesn’t matter,...
