‘Bihter’ Ending Explained & Movie Summary: Did Bihter Stop Behlül And Nihal’s Marriage?
Image
Many might disagree with this, but Turkish films know how to play with human emotion. The finesse with which Turkish directors craft their movies and imbue them with emotions is something that’s missing from a lot of modern cinema; be it comedy or thriller, Turkish films are second to none. Mehmet Binay and Carner Alper’s latest film, Bihter, is no exception. Balancing themes like infidelity, courage, and cowardice, Bihter chronicles the story of the protagonist with the same name, who became the victim of her desires and caught romantic feelings for Behlül, her husband’s relative.

Spoilers Ahead

Who Is Bihter? Who Does She Marry?

The movie introduced Bihter (Farah Zeynep Abdullah) as a young woman relishing the pleasures of life. Like all her sisters, she wanted to fall in love with a rich man who could give her everything she wanted. Even though Bihter was born into a rich family,...

‘Rise of Empires: Ottoman’ (2022-) – Historical Doc-Series on Netflix
Image
Rise of Empires: Ottoman is a documentary series written and directed by Emre Sahin.

A very interesting combination of techniques in this dramatized documentary series that brings to life the history in a very Game of Thrones fashion. If you haven’t seen it, give it a peek and see the interesting approach they have taken in creating a story so vivid that it captivates, and the producers’ angle of modernizing everything History-conveying – remember the dry history literature in school? This is the polar opposite, giving the subject some much welcome glamour and allure. We have seen new ways of relaying History lately, making it more appealing, a good example would be the doc-series ‘Blood, sex and Royalty‘. ‘Rise of Empires: Ottoman‘ delivers, with a similarly novel approach, a chronicle historical events.

Official Trailer for Turkish Series 'Hot Skull' About a Verbal Epidemic
Image
"You have no idea who you're dealing with." Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for an intriguing new dystopian thriller from Turkey titled Hot Skull, which will be out to watch on Netflix starting in December. Adapted from a Turkish novel of the same name, this sort of apocalyptic story involves a cool sci-fi concept where talking can spread a disease by connecting pathways in one person's mind. In a dystopian world, as an epidemic spreads through verbal communication, a tyrannical institution pursues a linguist immune to the disease. This seems like clever contemporary commentary where fascist ideas are turned into a physical disease, hence the epidemic, and some people wear headphones all day to stop themselves from catching it. The main character is a linguist, played by Osman Sonant, who is hunted by the ruthless Anti-Epidemic Institution. The cast also includes Şevket Çoruh, Hazal Subaşı, Tilbe Saran, Kubilay Tunçer,...
