Derek A. Smith(I)

Derek A. Smith was born on September 28, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He is an actor, known for Unarmed Man (2018), Operation Las Vegas (1990), The System (2003) , The Meek (2017), The Invasion with Nicole Kidman and Danial Craig, and National Treasure: Book of Secrets with Nicholas Cage, among others films, television and commercials.

Derek has been acting in film, television and commercials since the 1980s. Besides acting, he is a well known cybersecurity expert who is frequently seen on various news programs such as RT News, BBC, al Jazeera world news, & local news as a cyber-security expert & has been quoted in news write-ups and radio interviews. Derek has given or participated in presentations, panel discussions, seminars, webcasts, podcasts & blogged on cyber security.

Derek also served in the US Navy, US Air Force for 15 years and finally retired from the Army National Guard. He also served as a Federal Agent for several agencies such as the Defense Intelligence Agency, Department of Treasury, Postal Service, and Department of Education.

Derek has authored and co-authored five books on cybersecurity and has edited 3 additional cybersecurity books for other authors.

Derek has completed a Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership & completed an MBA, an M.S. in IT Project Management, MS in Information technology/Information Assurance, and an MS in Digital Forensics. He also has a B.S in Education, A.S in Criminal Justice, A.S in Computing and Information Technology, and an A.S in Information Systems.
