In 2001, Lee Yeon Hee won a prize at the 'SM Best Youth Contest' organized by SM Entertainment in Korea and was selected as a trainee of SM Entertainment. She spent her trainee days with Girls' Generation members but decided to pursue her career as an actress, which led her to walk a different path from Girls' Generation members.
In 2001, when Lee Yeon Hee was 14 years old, she appeared in the music video for singer Moon Hee Jun's first solo album, 'Alone,' which marked the beginning of her career. Her first work as an actress was the Hae-sin (2004) where she debuted as the younger version of 'Soo-ae', one of the top actresses at the time. She went on to play supporting roles in films like Gajokggiri Wae Irae (2014) and Buhwal (2005) before landing her first main role in Eo-neu Meot-jin Nal (2006) in 2006, and she has since grown explosively.
In the same year, Lee Yeon Hee was dubbed the Baekmanjangja-ui cheot-sarang (2006) for her innocent appearance in her first screen debut, Baekmanjangja-ui cheot-sarang (2006) and established herself as an actress with a unique vibe on the screen as well. Afterward, she has built her career by playing the role of a mysterious girl in the movie M (2007) by director Lee Myung Se, a quirky but lovely character in Soon-jeong-man-hwa (2008) which is based on a webtoon, and Hisako, a geisha with a story in Joseon Myungtamjung: Nobui Ddal (2015).
