Paramount’s Republic Pictures has acquired global rights to Jason Biggs’ directorial debut feature, the tentatively titled action-comedy “Getaway.”

“Getaway,” in which the “American Pie” actor also stars, centers on a hapless husband who stages a home invasion during a romantic getaway weekend in a desperate attempt to save his marriage, only for plan to go very wrong.

The cast includes Meaghan Rath (“Hawaii Five-0”), Arturo Castro (“Broad City”), Justin H. Min (“The Umbrella Academy”) and Anna Konkle (“Pen15”).

Currently in post production, “Getaway” was written by Jamie Napoli and Joshua Paul Johnson and produced by Motion Picture Corporation of America CEO Brad Krevoy, Charles Cohen, Jimmy Philémond-Montout, David Anselmo and executive produced by Mpca’s Amy Krell.

The latest acquisition is among a slew of new titles the label has acquired in recent months.

The “When Calls the Heart” family is growing. Trevor Donovan has joined the spinoff, “When Hope Calls,” at Great American Family.

Donovan will star as Constable Jim Reynolds, an experienced Mountie based in Clearwater. Per Great American Media, Reynolds is “a strapping man, proficient in horse riding and physical pursuits” and “is known for his strong presence and skills in the field.”

He will first appear in the third episode of Season 2, when Michael and Nora arrive to pick up a child under he’s caring for. He will then return for a second episode later in Season 2. Season 2 kicked off with two Christmas episodes in Dec. 2021; the third episode is set to kick back off the season in early 2025. New episodes will debut on Great American Family then stream on Pure Flix. In Canada, “When Hope Calls” will air on Super Channel.

Exclusive: Great American Media favorite Trevor Donovan has been added to the cast of When Hope Calls, the spinoff of Janette Oke’s book series, When Calls the Heart.

When Hope Calls follows a pair of sisters, Lillian Walsh (Morgan Kohan) and Grace Bennett (Jocelyn Hudon) to the town of Brookfield, circa 1916. It’s centered on the town’s orphanage and its residents who meet tremendous challenges while creating a hopeful, faith-filled community on the cusp of change in the frontier town while nurturing the children in their care.

Donovan plays Constable Jim Reynolds, an experienced Mountie who is known for his strong presence and skills in the field. His two-episode arc kicks off in the third episode of season 2, which will premiere early next year on Great American Family, then on Pure Flix.

The great American comeback continues for Great American Family fave Lori Loughlin. The When Hope Calls star will join James Tupper (The Detectives) in Fall Into Winter, an original movie premiering Jan. 28 at 8 p.m.

It’s Loughlin’s first rom-com role since serving time behind bars in 2020 for the college admissions scandal. She last appeared on Gaf in When Hope Calls Christmas, which premiered on the network, December, 2021.

In Fall Into Winter, life quickly changes for Kerry (Loughlin) as she is suddenly forced to work alongside former nemesis, Brooks (Tupper), an old friend of her brother’swho unexpectedly buys out half of Kerry’s family-owned confectionery business.

Great American Family today revealed the former When Calls the Heart star will appear in Fall Into Winter, which premieres in January, 2023 as part of the network’s annual winter programming event.

The film, Loughlin’s first romantic comedy for Great American Family, follows her successful return to the role of Abigail Stanton in When Hope Calls Christmas last holiday season.

Fall Into Winter is set to commence production on October 23.

Amazon Freevee has picked up its first original holiday movie, Hotel for the Holidays, to star Madelaine Petsch and Aladdin star Mena Massoud as the romantic leads.

Set in the Hotel Fontaine in New York City during Christmas, the holiday pic sees Georgia, played by Petsch, as a hotel manager who attracts eclectic guests looking for an escape from their everyday lives. But Georgia’s work and personal life becomes entangled when she is caught between the charming hotel chef Luke (Massoud) and a sophisticated ex-prince staying at the hotel.

Hotel for the Holidays, produced by Brad Krevoy’s Motion Picture Corporation of America, will debut this holiday season exclusively on the Amazon Freevee streaming service in the U.S. and UK.

The ensemble cast includes Max Lloyd-Jones, Kayleigh Shikanai, Jami Belushi, Neil Crone and Jayne Eastwood (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) as Florence.

Wagner stars as Janie, a rising marketing executive living in The Big Apple, who returns to her hometown of Woodland Falls when her Great-Uncle Randall passes away. Randall surprises Janie with a special gift: the family homestead, her childhood home.

While not immediately sure what to do, Janie agrees to honor Randall’s final request to plan and host Woodland Falls’ annual Winter Wonderland. She will be further surprised by who her late uncle has arranged to help her: his farmhand Dylan (Mathison).

The 2022 holiday season is underway at Gac Family. Merritt Patterson and Daniel Lissing will star in “Catering Christmas” (working title), set to begin production on April 3. The movie is the first announced movie in Gac Family’s annual Great American Christmas slate.

“Catering Christmas” follows Molly Frost (Patterson) as she struggles to launch her new catering business and unexpectedly lands New Hampshire’s biggest event of the year. Meanwhile, Carson Jacob Harrison (Lissing), manager of the event, is the very reluctant heir to his family’s foundation who needs a reminder of all the good is his family does.

Brad Krevoy, Eric Jarboe, Amanda Phillips, Amy Krell, Vince Balzano, Jimmy Townsend, Susie Belzberg Krevoy and Tw Peacocke executive produce. David Anselmo serves as producer while James Mou, Allan Fung, W. Michael Beard and Michael Shepard serve as supervising producers and Kaitlyn Greenough as associate producer. Netflix released a trailer for Dave Chappelle’s newest comedy special, “The Closer,” which premieres globally on the service Oct. 5.

The trailer features Morgan Freeman narrating over footage of Chappelle driving down a country road. “He’s deep in thought, back in the trance. Five specials in as many years. How do you close a body of work that profound?” asks Morgan. This stand-up special completes a body of work which includes previous specials “The Age of Spin,” “Deep In The Heart Of Texas” “Equanimity,” “The Bird Revelation” and “Stick & Stones.”

Lori Loughlin is set to return to acting with a guest starring role in Season 2 of “When Hope Calls” at Gac Family.

Loughlin will reprise the role of Abigail Stanton, whom she originally played in “When Calls the Heart” on Hallmark Channel. “When Hope Calls” is a spinoff of that series. Its first season aired on Hallmark Movies Now and Hallmark Channel but is moving to Gac Family for Season 2.

Loughlin starred in “When Calls the Heart” from its launch in 2014 until 2019, when she was famously arrested for her involvement in the college admissions scandal. The show had already been renewed for a sixth season, but following Loughlin’s arrest her scenes were edited out and she left the show. Loughlin ultimately served two months in prison and is currently on a two-year supervised release.

Loughlin will appear in the two-part season premiere of “When Hope Calls,” which will air on Dec.

Exclusive: Vanessa Hudgens has boarded Netflix’s The Knight Before Christmas, a feature which the High School Musical and Rent: Live star will also executive produce.

The pic, directed by Monika Mitchell and written by Cara Russell, follows a gallant English knight who seeks out his true quest after a sorceress inadvertently sends him from the medieval era to present day. While there he soon finds himself falling for a caring high school science teacher who is disillusioned by love. Josh Whitehouse, who stars in MGM’s reboot of Valley Girl and the upcoming HBO Game of Thrones prequel, also stars. Cameras will roll this April in Ontario, Canada.

Also serving as EPs with Hudgens are Brad Krevoy, Amanda Phillips Atkins, Eric Jarboe, Jimmy Townsend, and Lorenzo Nardini. Mark Amato is the consulting producer with David Anselmo producing. The Knight Before Christmas is a Motion Picture Corporation of America production.

One of the most talked about films at this year's Sundance Film Festival will be hitting theaters over Labor Day weekend, which is quite the fitting release date for Antibirth. The film centers on one of the most horrific pregnancies ever committed to film, and you can see all the gruesome details for yourself in the first trailer that just arrived, alongside the new poster. From Canada's levelFILM, Sneak Peek director Sturla Gunnarson's science fiction action thriller "Ice Soldiers", starring Dominic Purcell, Adam Beach and Michael Ironside, now available on Blu-Ray, DVD and VOD:

"...'Ice Soldiers", follows a scientist who discovers the bodies of three frozen, genetically modified Russians buried in the Canadian North. 

"But when they thaw out, he realizes he has unleashed a deadly threat to Western society that must be stopped at all costs..."

"Ice Soldiers" is produced by Michael Baker of Bunk 11 Pictures and David Anselmo. Jeff Sackman is Executive Producer.

"The Host 2" will receive $1.5 million from the government-backed Korea Creative Content Agency's global projects technology development support program. This will go to production company Chungoerahm and f/x partner Macrograh to develop the CG for the film which is at a $10 million budget. For the first film, CGI company The Orphanage created the effects. The film enjoyed solid critic ratings, personally, I think it sucked. The first film starred David Joseph Anselmo, Song Kang-Ho and Spencer Jay Kim.
