Alex Simmons is an Emmy-winning director, producer, and editor. He is a co-founder of Muck Media and a producer of Netflix's record-breaking documentary on global music icon Karol G, the most-watched Spanish-language documentary in the history of the platform.
Simmons directed the feature documentary "We Can Be Heroes", a coming-of-age story set at a LARPing summer camp, which won a Special Jury Award at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival. Simmons has also directed "Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller" (National Geographic), "Dear..." (Apple TV+), "Chasing El Chapo" (Univision) and edited the feature "Own the Room" (Disney+). His non-fiction work has earned multiple Emmys and an Overseas Press Club Award.
On the narrative side, he wrote and directed the indie comedy Buddymoon, starring Flula Borg and David Giuntoli, which won the Audience Award at Slamdance and was released theatrically by Orion Pictures.
Beyond film and television, Simmons has directed music videos and concert films for artists including Death Cab for Cutie, Sigur Rós, Yasiin Bey, and The Shins.
