Bobcat Moretti Review: A Fight Worth Watching
Image
They call it Bobcat Moretti, a compelling drama exploring how one man rediscovers meaning in life. Director Rob Margolies is at the helm, bringing the story of Tim Realbuto’s Bobby Moretti to the screen.

Fresh from theater roles, Realbuto steps into the boxing ring, portraying an Ms patient taking up his late father’s sport. Joined by gems like Vivica A. Fox as gym owner Jo, Moretti seeks her guidance after tragedy strikes. Now overweight and broken, can boxing provide a path to salvation?

Over a year of filming allowed Realbuto’s stunning physical transformation—losing over 150 pounds—to embody Bobby’s journey. More than a sports movie, Margolies examines how we overcome personal challenges and find purpose, even in our darkest hours.

The Ring of Renewal

We meet Bobby Moretti in the aftermath of a tragedy. Diagnosed with Ms and overweight, his health spirals after losing someone close.

‘Road House’ Is Officially Getting a Sequel, Jake Gyllenhaal Set to Return
Image
In 1989, the legendary Patrick Swayze starred in the original Road House movie. The movie has achieved cult status in the meantime, and while the 2006 sequel was panned by critics, Amazon decided to remake the movie, which was released earlier this year to mixed reviews, but it seems that the fans were more than satisfied, as a sequel has been announced by Amazon, with the first film’s main star, Jake Gyllenhaal set to reprise his role in the sequel. We’re certain that this sequel won’t repeat the failure of the original sequel, but it remains to be seen how well Amazon is going to execute it.

The first movie was released in March 2024, and the critics on Rotten Tomatoes have agreed that “Road House updates a cult classic for a new generation, happily replicating the original’s emphasis on cheesy brawn over narrative brains.”

The movie wasn’t all too bad,...

All 5 Deaths In Road House's 2024 Remake, Ranked By How Ridiculous They Are
Image
Dalton's final UFC fight is a key chapter in his backstory, leading him on a dark path toward self-destruction. Knox snapping Brandt's neck signifies that he has taken over as the main antagonist. Dalton's strategic throat-punch to kill Vince shows he's stopped suppressing his killer instincts.

The remake of Road House is a throwback to old-school action thrillers, and it features just as many outrageous death scenes as the original. Road House is a remake of a 1989 Patrick Swayze movie, but with Jake Gyllenhaal stepping in to star. Gyllenhaal, plays Dalton, a former UFC champion who takes a job as a bouncer in a rowdy bar in Florida, before finding that the bar's issues run far deeper than just the regular crowd of troublemakers. Like the original, the remake features plenty of bone-crunching combat, and a few bizarre deaths.

Road House has earned better reviews than the original,...

Where Was Road House Filmed? 2024 Remake's Filming Locations Explained
Image
The majority of Road House (1984) was filmed in the Dominican Republic. The Seven Mile Bridge in Marathon, Florida is also featured in the film. Jake Gyllenhaal traveled to Las Vegas for the UFC match scene in Road House (2024).

The 2024 film Road House serves as a reimagining of the 1989 movie of the same name starring Patrick Swayze, and while the original was based in Missouri, the Jake Gyllenhaal-led remake moved the story (and production) to the tropics. The Amazon Prime Video film, directed by Doug Liman and written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry, featured the same basic plot as its predecessor — a troubled man haunted by his past accepts a job as a bouncer at a rowdy establishment. However, Road House (2024) is able to separate itself from the original in many ways, including its location.

Like the 1989 movie, Road House (2024) features a dynamic cast, including Gyllenhaal as Elwood Dalton, Daniela Melchior as Ellie,...

Every Real UFC Fighter & Pundit In Amazon's Road House Remake
Image
The Road House remake is intertwined with UFC, featuring cameos from notable fighters and a fresh take on the story. Conor McGregor shines as the main villain Knox, showcasing his acting chops alongside his Mma skills. With appearances by UFC figures like Bruce Buffer and Jay Hieron, the remake's fight scenes are intense and memorable.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Road House (2024).

The Road House remake is heavily tied into the world of UFC, and it features a handful of supporting turns and notable cameo appearances by UFC fighters and pundits. Like the Patrick Swayze-starring 1989 original, the 2024 Road House remake revolves around a bouncer named Dalton, who’s hired to protect a small-town roadhouse bar from the ruthless businessman who wants to tear it down and gentrify the area. Jake Gyllenhaal’s Dalton, unlike Swayze’s, is a former UFC middleweight champion. This added backstory paved the way...

Road House remake gets an R rating for violence throughout, pervasive language, and some nudity
Image
There’s bound to be blood on the bar room floor when Doug Liman’s Road House remake starts a rumble in theaters. According to FilmRatings.com, the update starring Jake Gyllenhaal is Rated R for violence throughout, pervasive language, and some nudity. Today’s Road House remake rating clearly indicates that Liman won’t be holding back when the film punches its way into cinemas, and Gyllenhaal’s transformation into a chiseled behemoth won’t go to waste.

The original Road House starred Patrick Swayze as Dalton, a “cooler” hired to help clean up The Double Deuce, one of the rowdiest bars in Missouri. The film has become a cult favorite over the years, and there have been various attempts at remaking the movie. Prime Video says the new take will star Gyllenhaal as a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys.

Jake Gyllenhaal shares unusual advice Guy Richie gave him for new war movie

Jake Gyllenhaal has spoken about the creative process of working with British director Guy Ritchie that forced him to “let go”.

Gyllenhaal stars as a US army sergeant in Ritchie’s latest film, The Covenant, in which he and an Afghan interpreter take on Taliban forces.

During a new interview on the popular YouTube show Hot Ones, the actor was asked whether it was “daunting” or “liberating” working with a director who gives actors “a lot of space to explore”.

“The thing that I love about my job is that you get to work with so many different minds,” Gyllenhaal responded.

“With Guy, it was like nothing I’d ever done. He said to me, ‘Don’t memorise any of your lines,’ and the script came in at 50 pages. It wasn’t even a fully written script.”

He continued: “Usually, scripts are like 110 pages, and I was like, ‘What is this?...

Road House Remake Star Conor McGregor Praises Co-Star Jake Gyllenhaal
Image
UFC fighter and soon-to-be actor Conor McGregor has nothing but praise for his Road House remake co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. Based on the 1989 cult film that starred Patrick Swayze, the forthcoming remake was greenlit last year in August with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman at the helm. Earlier this month, Gyllenhaal filmed scenes for the movie at the real-life UFC 285 event in Las Vegas, earning praise for his heavily chiseled form and martial prowess.

Now Gyllenhaal’s own co-star has joined those heaping praise upon the Spider-Man: Far From Home actor. In a video sourced by DailyMail.com, McGregor, who is set to make his acting debut in the film, described Gyllenhaal as being very “helpful” during filming. However, when asked if McGregor had plans for any other acting roles, he stated that he “really want[s] to get back to fighting” instead. Check out his comments below:

Road House: Jake Gyllenhaal films UFC scenes for the action film remake
Image
This past weekend, while the UFC showcased their latest fight cards at UFC 285, filming of Jake Gyllenhaal’s upcoming remake of the 1989 Patrick Swayze film, Road House, piggy-backed onto the event. It’s no new strategy for films that involve professional contact sports to use an actual fight night for the backdrop of production to save on construction and present a level of authenticity. Michael B. Jordan would even film the fighter entrances to Creed III at a bout last year.

Deadline sports that the Road House remake filmed UFC scenes involving Gyllenhaal’s character, Dalton. Gyllenhaal unveiled his new physique for the role as the actor is now in fighting shape. The production filmed a weigh-in scene where Gyllenhaal would showboat for the cameras, presumably both in and out of character. Dalton looks to be fighting a fictional fighter named Harris, who is played by the former UFC fighter Jay Hieron.

Jake Gyllenhaal Hits Flying Knee at UFC Event for Road House Scene: Watch
Image
An absolutely shredded Jake Gyllenhaal provided attendees of UFC’s most recent live event with an unexpected sight this past Saturday (March 4th) when he filmed a fight scene from his upcoming Road House remake.

One day before UFC 285, Gyllenhaal and former UFC fighter Jay Heiron attended the official weigh-in ceremony. Providing a sneak peek at the film’s own weigh-in scene, the actors went face to face before getting involved in a scripted altercation in which Gyllenhaal slapped Heiron.

Prior to the actual UFC event, Gyllenhaal stepped into the cage against Heiron for a Road House fight scene in which Gyllenhaal hit his opponent with a flying knee and pounced on him for a series of mounted punches before the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

In the Road House remake, Gyllenhaal plays a retired UFC fighter named Elwood Dalton who takes a job as a bouncer at...

An extremely bulked-up Jake Gyllenhaal surprised crowdmembers at the UFC 285 weigh-in.

On Friday (3 March), at the Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane event in Las Vegas, the actor stepped onto the scales while filming a scene for his new film.

The actor was in character for the remake of Road House, which he stars in alongside former UFC fighter Jay Hieron.

Gyllenhaal shouted at the crowd while standing on the scales and, after Hieron’s character was weighed, the pair performed a fictionalised altercation.

While being interviewed in character, the Nightcrawler actor said of his opponent: “This f***er just makes me laugh, ’cause he’s a f***ing joke. Let’s go. Just give me the belt. Just give it to me. Hand it to me.”

Jake Gyllenhaal Seen Filming Upcoming ‘Road House’ Remake at UFC 285
Image
Amazon’s increased investment in theatrical films is showing results this weekend as “Creed III” dominates the box office. The film’s success also proves that there is still a large audience for films about combat sports — so naturally, Amazon is pressing ahead with another one.

Jake Gyllenhaal is currently shooting a remake of “Road House,” the classic 1989 film about Patrick Swayze working as a bouncer at a small Missouri bar. The new, Doug Liman-directed film gives the story a modern update, with Gyllenhaal playing a former UFC fighter who takes over security for a bar in the Florida Keys.

In addition to Gyllenhaal, the film also stars UFC legends Jay Hieron and Conor McGregor, who is making his screen acting debut on the project. With so much UFC street cred on board, the film is unsurprisingly going to great lengths to portray the mixed martial arts league with as much accuracy as possible.

A hulking Jake Gyllenhaal entered the UFC 285 octagon to shoot a fight scene for his new film.

On Saturday (4 March), those gathered in the Las Vegas arena to see the Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane became movie extras as the Nightcrawler actor engaged in a “fight” with former UFC fighter Jay Hieron.

The showdown will be shown in the forthcoming Road House remake, which Gyllenhaal is starring in alongside Hieron.

Gyllenhaal won the staged fight. After, he could also be seen pushing away the ref, played by Mma’s Chris Tognoni, to repeatedly hit his opponent as he lay on the floor.

The scene comes a day after Gyllenhaal displayed his bulked-up physique at the weigh-in ahead of the fight. He shouted at the crowd while standing on the scales and got into a fictionalised altercation with Hieron’s character.

While being interviewed in character, he said of his opponent:...

On hand to stir up enthusiasm for the scene was former UFC champion Conor McGregor, who’s also in the film.

The update of Road House is directed by Doug Liman and produced by Joel Silver, who also did the 1989 film. The new cast includes Daniela Melchior and Billy Magnussen. Road House is set to be released by Amazon Studios.

‘The Gateway’ Review

Stars: Shea Whigham, Olivia Munn, Taryn Manning, Frank Grillo, Bruce Dern, Keith David, Mark Boone Junior, Zach Avery, Alexander Wraith, Jay Hieron, Taegen Burns, Nick Daly, Richard Strauss, Shannon Adawn | Written by Michele Civetta, Andrew Levitas, Alex Felix Bendaña | Directed by Michele Civetta

I have been known from time to time watch a flick based solely on its cast. Take Sam Rockwell for instance, the trailer could be awful but I’m still going to watch it because it’s Sam ‘freaking’ Rockwell. Recently Frank Grillo has made his way onto this list after a string of spot on supporting roles and the odd leading man performance… So you can imagine my giddy glee to see the man teaming up with The Newsroom‘s Olivia Munn for an “action thriller” romp. The movie is called The Gateway and I’m about to get into it for you all right now!

Finn Jones in Iron Fist (2017)
‘Iron Fist': All References to Other Marvel Netflix Shows Through Season 2
Finn Jones in Iron Fist (2017)
“Iron Fist” Season 2 is here, arriving in what is now a fully formed shared TV universe with Marvel’s other Netflix shows. So let’s take a look at all the ways “Iron Fist” calls back to “Daredevil,” “Luke Cage,” “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders.” Some spoilers here, obviously.

Season 2 calls back to the literally earth-shattering events of “The Defenders” a few times. Most notably to the biggest development in the Marvel Netflix TVverse so far: the apparent death of Daredevil when the Midland Circle building collapsed on him and Elektra.

Misty Knight (Simone Missick), one of the main characters from “Luke Cage,” also joined the main cast of “Iron Fist in season 2 — paying back appearances by Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) in season 2 of “Luke Cage.”

Misty also refers back to the battle at Midland Circle in “Defenders,” which was where she lost her arm.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015) Movie Trailer: Paranormal Activity, Again. Again.
Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension Trailer Has Been Released. Gregory Plotkin‘s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015) movie trailer stars Nathan Brewer and Jay Hieron. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension‘s plot synopsis is yet to be released.

The trailer for the newest entry into Paranormal Activity franchise looks like a retread of set-ups we’ve seen before, callbacks to previous entries, and a horror movie too late for 2015. Don’t misunderstand me – this will most definitely make money. There are some wonderful moments when people realize a lazy, retrod horror movie is shit (like the recent Poltergeist remake failing abysmally at the box-office), but it seems that this franchise is thus far fail-safe.
